Vehicle Description
1926 Ford Model A Huckster - 2.9L I4 - Manual Transmission -
Huckster Pickup - Black and Wood Exterior - Black Interior After
the introduction of the Model T in 1908, coach builders began to
adapt it for commercial purposes, adding stake beds and enclosed
bodies to carry cargo. Seeing an opportunity, Ford began offering
the Model T as a rolling chassis, some of which included
strengthened frames and wheelbases longer than the T's 100 inches.
The Ford Model T rolling chassis was highly adaptable, basic design
that proved to be an excellent platform on which to construct very
handsome wood-bodied station wagons and depot hacks. Ford did not
yet manufacture its own wooden bodies for the Model T, and
consequently, all wagons came from several outside suppliers. One
alternative was the commercial huckster body with a large cargo
area at the rear. The huckster was useful for many practical
applications, including being filled with Goods For Sale. Restored
survivors continue to remain popular among early Ford collectors
today as well a clever display for merchants at farmers markets or
within retail settings. These unique trucks capture a time when
retailers brought the goods to your neighborhood long before
Amazon! This charming wood huckster body has been lovingly restored
with an oak body. The craftsmanship on the woodwork is outstanding.
The remaining steel body is painted black, and while this is an
older restoration it still presents with a rich shine with a few
very minor blemishes here and there in the body. The black interior
and vinyl top have been fully restored. Options are sparse with
only an amp gauge for the dashboard. The chrome trim has been well
cared for and beams with a rich luster with only some light patina.
The 20 bhp, 177 cu. in. L-head inline four-cylinder engine has been
fully rebuilt and accurately restored and runs strong transferring
power through the two-speed planetary-type manual transmission.
This early delivery vehicle rolls on wood spoke wheels. This rare
and unique Ford Model T is ready to roll down your main street in
parades and perhaps advertising your business. It would also be fun
to drive and maybe pick up a few supplies in. Imagine the looks you
would have at your local hardware or big box as you stopped in to
get a few supplies! Please call if you are interested in the
