For Sale: 1965 Buick Skylark in Chaska, Minnesota

Vehicle Description

This two-owner 1965 Buick Skylark four-door is a midsized sedan with 26,463 original miles that is powered by a 225ci Fireball V6 paired with a 2-speed automatic transmission. Originally sold new by Kennard Buick in La Crosse, Wisconsin, this two-owner Skylark has been garage-kept long-term and retains its original finishes inside and out and comes equipped with a new set of Michelin tires. Finished in Champagne Mist over a Fawn vinyl interior, this first-generation Skylark is now offered with an owner’s manual, Protect-O-Plate, and a clear Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

Offered initially as a luxury variant of the Roadmaster in the mid-1950s, the Skylark became a trim level of the compact Special in 1961. In 1964, the Skylark branched off as a standalone midsized model in hardtop, sedan, and convertible body styles on the General Motors A-body platform. This garage-kept Skylark four-door sedan from 1965 reportedly retains its original Champagne Mist (paint code T) paint from nose to tail. The exterior is accentuated by quad headlights, bright rocker moldings, fender Ventiports, and a full-width taillight design. Per the seller, there is a small patch of rust in the lower right-hand corner of the rear window.

Steel 14-inch wheels with full covers and knock-off caps are wrapped in new 195/70 Michelin Defender tires.

The unrestored interior is fitted with Fawn (trim code 133) vinyl front and rear bench seats, matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Equipment includes lap belts, a heater, and Skylark-branded black rubber floor mats. The seller notes that the steering wheel is cracked.

Vehicle information is presented through a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 26,659 miles, which the seller believes is a true reading. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The carbureted, cast-iron 225ci Fireball V6 received replacement spark plug wires and rocker cover gaskets. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted Super Turbine 300 2-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the oil pan and the rear main seal are leaking slightly.

A variety of photos showing the underside of the vehicle are available in the carousel.
