Vehicle Description
CPR is delighted to offer this 1957 Porsche 356 T2 Speedster
finished in Silver over a black leather interior. This example went
through a ground-up every-nut-and-bolt restoration here at CPR and
was completed to the highest standards.
CPR first purchased this Speedster in 2009 from an owner in
Colorado as a complete example that was in need of a total
restoration. The car was stored for a brief period of time before
entering the restoration shop to receive the lovely top-level CPR
restoration the car now wears.
First, the car was completely disassembled and stripped to bare
metal by hand. We do not media blast or acid dip our vehicles as it
can compromise the integrity of the existing metal. The tub then
entered our metal shop, where it was comprehensively metal worked
and brought back to factory specifications in all areas. Lead was
added where needed and all panel gaps were set to factory
standards. The tub received new floors for cosmetic purposes as the
originals were fairly weathered from years of use.
Following the metal process, the tub was moved to our paint
preparation shop, where it spent several hundred hours being
sealed, primed, and extensively blocked to ensure laser-straight
panels with an excellent foundation for the paint to be applied.
The undercarriage was undercoated to factory standards and finished
in the correct shade of black. A final layer of primer was added,
and then the last blocking was performed before the gorgeous Silver
Glasurit paint was applied. Following paint application, the tub
was baked in our Binks down-draft paint booth to guarantee a solid
chip-resistant finish. A full color sand and buff was performed to
complete the process and give the tub the vibrant, deep finish it
wears now.
Following paint, the car was partially assembled before being sent
to Autobahn Interiors in Sorrento Valley to have the complete Black
leather interior installed. Square weave carpet was installed
throughout, and a black top with a matching tonneau cover was
installed. The car then returned to CPR, and the final assembly was
completed.
The drivetrain was fully overhauled during the restoration. The
gearbox was rebuilt in-house, where a complete overhaul was
performed, including a new gearset, synchros, bearings, mainshaft,
and a detailed blasting and refinish to the case. The engine was
rebuilt in-house as well and upgraded with a 1720cc big bore kit.
The engine now produces near 100hp and allows the car to drive
comfortably at highway speeds.
Following final assembly, the car was sorted and driven 300 miles
before delivery. The car was then delivered to its only owner since
restoration in 2019, who added just 80 miles during their
ownership. The car now shows 381 total miles since restoration.
This Speedster is the definition of a properly sorted 356. The fit
and finish of every surface, gap, and fixture are second to none.
The car is inviting from the moment you step in until the moment
you put her away for the evening. Everything, including the power
delivery from the engine, the feel of the shift linkage, the
clutch, the brake pedal feel, and the chassis dynamic, is terrific
and begs to be exercised.
Upon arrival back to CPR Classic the car received a major service
to include the following items:
-Complete fluid changes to include engine oil and filter, gearbox
oil, and brake fluid.
-Spark Plugs
-Tuning service to include checking the timing and carburetor
synchronization
-Installation of complete front end Xpel clear bra (Covers front
bumper, fenders, cowl, and hood.
-Brand new Pirelli Cinturato tires
If you are in the market for a late production 356 Speedster that
looks the part of a Concours car in all facets and drives better
than a new example ever would have, this is a must-consider car.
Ready for immediate delivery anywhere in the world. You really
don't want to miss this spectacular Speedster.
