Vehicle Description
When a sleek and low-mileage Mercedes is within your budget, it's
time to take notice. But this one is more than just a head-turner.
This 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 took the awesome AMG power and
supercharged it from the masters at RENNtech. So it can coddle you
in luxury for in-town driving, but it also knows how to ignite your
soul on the back roads.
This generation of the SLK is an awesome sports car. The sharply
pointed nose and hood vents are directly borrowed from the SLR
McLaren supercar. And since this is the hot AMG version, it really
looks extra sleek in Iridium Silver. Plus, it has the fit and
finish that comes from a well-respected car that has only averaged
about 1,100 miles annually. Widely flared fenders, a well-done
spoiler, quad exhaust tips, optional Xenon headlights, and 16-spoke
18-inch wheels are all there to show the sporting nature even if no
one sees the AMG badge. But the true trick was the electronic
folding hardtop was so well engineered that the design makes for an
outstandingly attractive coupe.
The interior is a terrific mix of sporty style and Mercedes luxury.
It starts with the supremely comfortable leather bucket seats. They
are done in a tasteful black with a gray insert that looks
exceptionally well-coordinated with the exterior. Especially
because the door panels and dash are done to match. So you just
know this car was meant to be seen with the top down. This is
loaded with desirable luxuries, like power seats, power windows,
power locks, keyless entry/alarm, power steering, and cruise
control. The infotainment system is an AM/FM/CD/XM touchscreen unit
with satellite navigation, and it connects to the optional
Burmester surround sound stereo system. Plus, this car also has
great modern safety features such as dual front airbags, side
airbags, and anti-lock brakes. But we bet your favorite features
will be the dual-zone automatic climate control and heated seats.
Together they can let you dial in the ideal atmosphere, even when
the top is down.
AMG is awesome at adding performance, and they truly went for a hot
rod kind of mentality with the SLK55. This took one of their best
motors, the 5.5-liter fuel-injected V8, and it was shoehorned into
the engine bay of one of their smallest vehicles around. Few
companies can improve on this kind of legacy, but RENNtech is on
that shortlist. While we do not have receipts, we believe this to
have the Stage 2 supercharger kit from RENNtech. They are able to
add a supercharger to this V8 while still keeping it looking stock
under the hood. Good programming means this knows how to be a
comfortable cruiser like a proper Mercedes should be, but a quick
prod of the accelerator awakens a true V8 rumble. The full
horsepower gets unleashed, and the sport-tuned independent
suspension makes this a road-carving drop-top. Another great AMG
upgrade is 7G-Tronic transmission. It's a normal automatic when you
want leisurely cruising, but the paddle shifters will let you tick
through the gears faster than a manual when it's time for some
backroads fun. Add in Continental ExtremeContact sport tires and
four-wheel disc brakes with drilled & slotted rotors and this is an
impressive and modern luxury sports car.
Complete with the owner's manual, this is a specialty-built AMG
hardtop convertible that went to an even more impressive finishing
school. It's the top of the top, and that's what makes it
irresistible. Call today!!!
