Vehicle Description
The rarity of the 2006 Pontiac Solstice made it a classic from day
one. But while many of us wished there was a V8 under the hood,
someone actually did something about it. Oh yeah, this rare and
sleek convertible was professionally upgraded to a 6.0-liter LS2
motor by Mallett Performance Cars. It brings 400 horsepower to the
streets, and because this was their SEMA show car, that's just the
beginning of the upgrades...
The Aspen White paint is largely the factory application, and it
looks terrific on a drop-top with under 4,900 miles on it. Of
course, what really makes it a show car are the added details, like
the metallic blue racing stripe painted over the top to mimic the
classic American racing livery. Plus, they nicely integrated speedy
details like the sculpted dual-scoop hood, a rear spoiler, and
integrated center exhaust tips. And because this is a show car,
there was a cool set of custom Budnik 20-inch wheels added with
SSBC center cap to help highlight the braking upgrade that was also
on display at SEMA.
Another product that wanted to be associated with this car is
Katzkin leather. So they created custom seat covers that give you a
tasteful tan, and the blue inserts that coordinate with the
exterior stripes. The whole interior mixes the right factory pieces
with the right upgrades. So this is loaded with all the best
features, including power windows, power locks, power steering,
dual airbags, and a powerful AM/FM/XM stereo with CD changer and
auxiliary input. And because the factory air conditioning is
blowing nice and cold, you can enjoy top-down motoring long into
the summer season. Plus, we love how the interior is built around
the driver. You get a grippy three-spoke sports steering wheel,
upgraded white-faced gauges, and a Hurst shifter.
The engine bay is clean, beautiful, and full of power. Mallett is
an awesome tuner/constructor, and this was their show car. So
you're looking at a master who put in extra time to make sure it
was done to the highest standards. They added the 6.0-liter LS2
motor that was similar to what was found in the final evolution of
the GTO. This is even rated at the same 400 horsepower - that's
more than double a standard Solstice! And a show car gets the best
components to show off. That's why this has a terrific-sounding
Corsa exhaust and SSBC Tri-Power four-wheel disc brakes. Plus, the
five-speed manual transmission features a LUK Pro Gold clutch, the
fully independent suspension was tuned by Mallett, and you have
grippy ZR-rated tires.
Complete with owner's manual, this is the car you always wished
Pontiac would have built. And if you're quick enough, this can be
the one to turn your garage into your own SEMA show. Call
