through. The instrument panel is a cleanly designed billet insert
with vintage-looking Dolphin gauges, and it works well with the
banjo-style, leather-rimmed wheel. Upgrades during the build
include Vintage Air heat and A/C, a polished tilt column, and a
Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo head unit with upgraded speakers in the
kick panles. A custom headliner and plush tailored carpets help
keep things quiet inside with plenty of insulation, while the A/C
system is neatly integrated with vents in the color-matched
dash.
Open the big, forward-tilting hood and you'll find a 400 cubic inch
V8 big block topped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and
polished intake manifold that make the truck feel particularly
strong out on the road. HEI ignition components, Ford Racing chrome
valve covers, and a custom accessory drive are reliable parts that
look great and there's a big aluminum radiator up front to keep it
cool. The transmission is a C6 3-speed automatic which feeds a Ford
9-inch rear end with rather tall gears inside, so it's a great
highway cruiser. Custom A-arms, a big sway bar, and modern shocks
and springs upgrade the LTD front suspension, and it also includes
power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes for a very fun and
reliable driving experience every time out. The stance has been
lowered slightly for a fantastic rake that totally nails the look
that you want in your old truck, and it looks like it's going
100MPH just standing still. The throaty dual exhaust system has
turn-downs just beyond the rear axle for a great sound and it sits
on classic American Racing wheels with 225/50/17 front and
255/50/18 rear Nitto performance radials all around.
