For Sale: 1971 Dodge Challenger in Elkhart, Indiana

Vehicle Description

Dodge's Challenger T/A didn't quite adhere to the rules as strictly as the Boss 302 and Z/28 but you can't argue with the end result. This awesome 1971 Dodge Challenger T/A Tribute is a high-visibility way to get all the Trans-Am goodness of the original at a much more user-friendly price.

The combination of the small block and upgraded handling was pretty appealing, even back in 1970, and the Challenger T/A gets everything right. The most visible aspect of this car's performance street credibility is the Curious Yellow paint, which practically glows in the dark. Since this Challenger was built from the ground up to be a tribute, the finish quality is just like new and the builders didn't overlook any of the critical T/A details. Up front there are two mini chin spoilers balanced by the big snorkel hood, which was blacked out in the finest Mopar fashion. Along the side, correct T/A stripes were applied, joined by a '340 Six Pack' callout on the front fenders. In back, there's a little ducktail spoiler, and it, too, is wearing the right emblems for a very correct look. Of course, you also get jewelry like the hood pins and flip-up gas cap, which practically scream "high performance" on a car that's pretty much the opposite of subtle. Add in some nice chrome bumpers, some polished stainless, and a correct grille, and you get a car that nails the T/A look for pennies on the dollar.

The T/A was about performance first and foremost, and that meant buckets seats and a 4-speed gearbox. This one is done right, carrying a pistol-grip shifter but no console, which was only dead weight anyway. The seats and interior are like new and in great condition.  There's the correct woodgrained steering wheel to match the shifter and a set of factory Rallye gauges to monitor the engine. The dash pad, the carpets, and even the door panels, are as new and accentuate the T/A's no-nonsense character. There's a retro sound AM/FM radio in the dash and sounds excellent. It also offers a correctly finished trunk with plenty of Curious Yellow paint.

The T/A bent the rules a little by stuffing a sweet-running 340 cubic inch V8 under the hood on their street cars (Trans-Am rules were limited to 5.0 liters), and this car features a new crate 360 CID that lives in this awesome tribute. It's decked out with a with a new carburetor under a correct ram air air cleaner and wears Hemi Orange paint that really pops against inner fenders. It's got niceties like power steering and power brakes, which make it fun to drive without making you work too hard and if you haven't enjoyed a road-race-bred small block Challenger, you're really missing out. It cackles and snorts through a correct dual exhaust system with reproduction mufflers and side exit pipes just ahead of the rear wheels and thanks to upgraded suspension parts, it's a tidy handler. It's extremely clean underneath, with shiny floors and new components throughout.  To top it off, you've also got the comfort of Vintage Air for those warm days!

If this was a real Challenger T/A, it would probably be twice as expensive. Instead, it's got awesome colors, a lot of performance, and nobody but you will know the difference. Get in touch with us today to find out more today about this awesome build!
