1977 Chevrolet Silverado Big 10 Resto-Mod Step-side
Car History
We have a restored (about 2000 miles ago) 1977 Chevrolet Silverado
Big 10 dark green metallic with a 454 cubic inch engine Rest-Mod
here at Adventure Classics that is a great example of those rare
vehicles but ours has been modified to have even more
performance.
The Big 10 was promoted as a heavy duty two wheel drive half ton
for the 1975 through 1980 model years. Although it offered truck
buyers somewhat more load carrying ability than the standard C10
half tons, its real advantage- and the motive behind its conception
-was that it provided buyers with the opportunity to purchase a
half ton truck with a 454 cubic inch engine on the short wheelbase
step-side truck.
Engine & Drivetrain
The largest motor available from the factory in 1977 was the 454
and that is what we have in ours, except, it has been rebuilt and
modified into a 477 cubic inch big block Chevrolet has dyno-tuned
at 540 horsepower.
The extra power and torque of the upgraded engine is great but it
looks great too with the black 454 logo valve covers, Edelbrock
aluminum intake, four-barrel carburetor, serpentine belt system,
black factory air filter assembly, modified ignition and
performance red spark plug wires, tube headers, and has power
steering, power brakes, serpentine belt system, and air
conditioning.
That horsepower runs back thru the GM 400 Turbo 3-speed automatic
transmission with a 12-bolt posi-rear end handling the power.
Interior
The restored black/green Deluxe interior has a front bench seat,
matching door panels with pockets, carpeting, and a factory stock
looking dash with all the correct factory gauges including the
tach, premium features like a tilt steering wheel, rare wood
steering wheel, wood on the dash, cold-blowing air conditioning,
power windows, dual mirrors, and an AM/FM stereo radio in the
center of the dash.
Exterior
Our Silverado has a dark green metallic paint job that is topped
with clear coat and micro flake to make a custom and outstanding
appearance.
It has great body panels, chrome towing mirrors, chrome front
bumper, dual gas tanks, finished bed, trailer hitch and the chrome
rear step bumper, LED brake light strip, dual exhaust, and all
riding on custom grey/chrome Ridler 10-spoke 18" wheels and
performance black sidewall radial tires.
Conclusion
This restored 1977 Chevrolet Silverado Big 10 with a 454 cubic inch
engine Rest-Mod we have here at Adventure Classics is a
one-of-a-kind great example that has been modified for more
drivability and comfort when you take it to cruise or attend a
show.to have even more performance.
