For Sale: 1964 Chevrolet Corvair in Mesa, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder convertible is a great driver's classic. It brings together the lightweight style, updated suspension, four-on-the-floor, and desirable turbo motor in a fun drop-top package.

These Corvairs have a cool sense of style. There's a sheet metal crease encircling the car, the bumpers hug the form, and the quad tail lights look inspired by its Corvette sibling. The Goldwood Yellow paint is not only the factory-correct color, but it also shows the right signs of being the factory application. While it's not perfect nearly 60 years later, it still has a bright look and good gloss that gets this convertible noticed. What also makes this nice is the way the black convertible top and black wheels provide a tastefully coordinated contrast.

You get this same attractive color combo with the roof down thanks to the full black interior. This has a clean and dark style that's quite inviting. There are nice classic details like the working under-dash lights and the color-matched convertible boot. And there are also some nice upgrades for modern driving, like AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input to plug in your phone. Best of all it's a true driver's classic with front bucket seats, full gauges with tach, and a Hurst floor shifter.

1964 is an important model year for two reasons. First, it was the debut of the larger 164 cubic-inch flat-six motor. And this one has the ultra-desirable turbocharged version that produced the most power that year. Second, a new Corvette-style transverse leaf spring was added for more manageable handling. It all makes for an American car with a European level of power and handling. So while the base Corvair was made to be an economy car, this range-topping model lives up to the euro-like Monza Spyder monikers. In fact, the control of the four-speed, fully independent suspension, and modern tires make this one of the most fun classic Chevys to drive.

Complete with service manuals, this is one of the most desirable Corvair setups around. After all, a strong-running drop-top with a cool color combo and nimble handling is an irresistible total package...especially at this affordable price. Call today!!!
