Vehicle Description
A real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport convertible with
proper big block power is a wonderful thing. But when it has been
restored to look this sharp, then you know you're looking at
something special.
The paint on this car really sets it apart. It's modern and premium
PPG blue with enough metallic to make sure this convertible
radiates on every sunny day. Beautiful paint needs a terrific
canvas, and the body lines on this drop-top show they took extra
care before the first drop of blue went down. And because this was
a full rotisserie restoration, you're going to find the whole car
looking quite clean and complete. So this really has the crisp
lines that prove this Super Sport Impala is a premium Chevy. But
more than just color and metal, even the details are correct - the
folding roof fits snugly; the trim is bright and complete; and the
doors hang with the crispness not seen in many convertibles of this
era. The wide chrome grille up front is like an extension of the
mirror-like bumper. And in the rear, the bumper has a terrific fit
as it integrates into the sheet metal. So the overall effect of
this one is a classic that looks smart with its top up or down.
The deep blue paint looks like ocean water, and the white roof
looks like a tropical wave on top. But as attractive as this is, it
gets even better when you power the roof down. That's because there
is a terrific-looking interior that continues the sea of blue. As a
detailed restoration, you'll love to watch people point out the
little things that make a difference. You see it in the white
convertible boot, working courtesy lights, and the way the trim in
the door panels coordinates with the trim in the seats. There's
plenty of room for family and friends in a full-size convertible
like this. And you even can keep them happy with upgrades like an
AM/FM digital tuner with Bluetooth and provisions for Vintage Air
R134a air conditioning (it may just need a recharge to blow cold
again.). But because this is a true Super Sport the driver gets the
best treats. Front bucket seats, a center console, and a factory
wheel on a tilt column mean you'll always be riding in individual
comfort.
Open the hood to reveal a year-correct 396 cubic-inch big block
nestled in a terrific engine bay. With the smooth gloss black inner
walls, a bold block, shining valve covers, and matching air topper,
this presentation is award-worthy all on its own. And while it
looks like there were nice investments in making this stock, you
can just dig a little deeper to discover some worthwhile upgrades.
It's an even stronger runner thanks to an Edelbrock 750 four-barrel
carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer intake, and an HEI distributor.
You even have better upgrades for daily use, like a large aluminum
radiator and a 100-amp alternator. Power steering, power brakes
front discs, a Powerglide automatic transmission, and modern tires
on Torq Thrust wheels make for a great driving package. And the
clean undercarriage shows off the newer components that give this
one a confident feeling on the road.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and maintenance
records. This Impala SS offers everything you want in a vintage
full-size drop-top, and it has all the right upgrades to give you
modern comfort, too. Exceptionally restored classics like this
