This 1958 Chevrolet Brookwood wagon checks all the right boxes for
a desirable classic. After all, the '58 Chevy was a single-year
design, and the station wagons were always an expensive buy (i.e.
rarer). So when an interesting classic has a fresh BluePrint
performance V8 - while still remaining affordable - it's hard not
to get excited.
The 1958 Chevrolets are always an in-demand style. More than just
having single-year uniqueness, they tapped into the right feelings
of the era with a wide chrome front end, full-length trim, and
jet-inspired details. Plus, wagons like this Brookwood had some
cool details. It takes advantage of the rear doors by having the
wraparound tailfin taper into the design. And this one already has
a custom/cool cruiser style that comes on day one. There are
upgrades like the creative full cream white pinstriping that's
underscoring most of the badging, and it coordinates with the white
on the roof and side trim insert. The tan paint has a hot rod kind
of matte finish, and this rides on 17-inch Boyd Coddington wheels.
So while the presentation is not perfect, it really does have the
perfect flair for those who are looking for a classic-style street
machine. Of course, there's also just plenty of us who see a lot of
potential in a distinctive Chevy grocery-getter offered for the
kind of price that leaves plenty of room to get creative.
The brown interior is complete and uniform. The seats and door
panels were updated later in life, and so they are good for today
and easy to update when you're ready. Details like the upgraded
steering wheel and auxiliary gauge trio make it a solid driver.
There's plenty of room for family and friends across the two wide
benches. There's also plenty of space for cargo room in the rear,
and the back seat folds for even more versatility. Plus, the
tailgate is the desirable split unit. So this one has a useful side
for everything from being your classic car workhorse to being the
coolest tailgater at the ballgame.
The engine bay instantly reminds you of the car's full potential
and where there have already been the right investments. It's a
fresh BluePrint 383 cubic-inch stroker V8 that was added within
about the last year. These guys are masters at building
performance, and so this includes enhanced internals, aluminum
heads, and a Holley four-barrel carburetor on top. The full package
is rated at 435 horsepower and 462 lb-ft of torque... and we have
the dyno sheet to prove it! And just to make sure this one
announces its power superiority, the headers feed directly
underneath the car for an open street machine kind of thunder. More
than just a powerful attitude, there are also nice supporting
components, like an aluminum radiator, an electric fan, and steel
braided fuel lines with AN fittings. Plus, a three-speed automatic
transmission and modern tires keep this rumbling wagon an
all-around cruiser.
So no matter if you're looking for a ready-to-run street machine or
have some plans for a powerful custom, you already know this rare
Brookwood is the most distinct way to show up on the scene. Call
