Intro
The BMW E32 is the second generation of the BMW 7 series and was produced from 1986 to 1994. The E32 was among the most technologically advanced series of cars in its day. This 1988 735i garage queen has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent condition. Most 7 series were ordered with a 4-speed ZF automatic, this one has a rare 5-speed manual.
Exterior
This BMW Schwarz Black e32 has a clean Carfax with no rust on the exterior or underneath with exception of some decay on the exhaust heat shield. This vehicle has not been driven in the winter. The owner states that certain sections of the passenger side were repainted. There are no reported accidents, and the rest of the car still has its original paint. The front bumper and fenders exhibit some road rash. The hood has some stone chips. Rubber door seals, hood/trunk seals are in excellent condition. It did have a paint correction.
Interior
The seller reports the black interior is a 9 out of 10. There are no tears in the buffalo leather seats and the dash has wood grain accents. There are some creases on the driver’s seat which could use a good conditioning and dye in some places. All gauges and the power seats work, and no dash pixels are out. A previous owner replaced the OEM shift boot with a suede boot. Sunroof works and does not leak. The trunk is in near perfect condition and the toolkit is missing one wrench. The BMW factory stereo was replaced with a Pioneer Bluetooth unit. The headliner was also replaced.
Suspension
The e32 rides on the original 15” style 7 BMW wheels. The aftermarket 17x8 Racing Dynamics wheels can be purchased separate. The brake master cylinder, hydraulic brake booster, front wheel bearings, front struts and rear shocks were replaced. The front and rear brake calipers were rebuilt. Four-wheel alignment, rear differential fluid change, manual transmission service, and new control arms.
Mechanicals
This BMW 735i has the bulletproof M30 and Getrag 5-speed. There are just under 114k miles on the car. Religious fluid changes, annual inspections, and overall fastidious maintenance. There are no indicator lights or fault codes present. A previous owner added a Dinan performance chip and removed part of the plastic around the front of the airbox for more airflow and a great induction sound. The radiator, thermostat and water pump are newer.
Known Issues:
· Front speakers need to be re-connected
· Passenger rear window regulator inoperable
· Passenger power mirror inoperable - suspected switch
· Bulb behind temp gauge just went out
· Passenger front reflector bulb out
Summary
This e32 is believed to be one of less than 300 1988 e32’s with a factory manual transmission and limited slip differential (LSD) imported to the U.S. The list of recent repairs, parts replaced and serviced completed was too extensive to list. In summary, this extremely well-maintained BMW can be enjoyed and driven any distance. This BMW 735i has a clear title and is in Warren County, Virginia.
