The Mustang SVT Cobra was a giant step up for a 1997 Mustang GT. It received quite a few performance upgrades for 1997 including a 4.6L DOHC aluminum engine. Our 3-owner Cobra has been carefully maintained and is an excellent example of this Fox-body classic. The factory Rio Red Tinted clearcoat finish is in excellent condition. Exterior accents include a rear spoiler and 17" SVT Cobra polished alloy wheels that mount serious BF Goodrich performance radials. The original 'Sport Seat' interior is upholstered in black leather and is also in excellent condition. This sporty Hoss is well equipped including A/C, power driver seat, dual front airbags, power tinted glass, tilt leather wheel, cruise, power locks and keyless entry. It is also optioned with the 250A Equipment Package that adds a Mach 460 AM/FM/CD/Cassette stereo and passive Anti-Theft system. SVT Cobra power is provided by an aluminum 4.6-liter, DOHC (four-valves per cylinder) V-8 that outputs 305bhp/305 lb/ft. This engine was a totally new Ford design and ones used in the SVT Cobras were hand-built. The 4.6L powerplant is backed by a 5-speed manual transmission and torque is delivered to a Ford Traction-Lok differential with 3.08:1 gearing. Exhaust is routed through a stainless steel exhaust system The upgraded SN-95 performance platform is fitted with power steering, ABS power 4-wheel disc brakes (13"/11.6" rotors), shock tower brace, 29/27mm sway bars, variable rate springs and MacPherson struts/gas shocks.
