1976 Ford Elite Gran Torino
Car History
We have a 1976 1976 Ford Elite Grand Torino here at Adventure
Classics that is simply stunning.
This is a true car of distinction. The 1976 Ford Gran Torino Elite
was introduced as a personal luxury coupe with its own character
and this car is an original survivor that was in a personal
collection of a Ford Dealer for 30 years with only 59,600 actual
miles on the odometer, this is a very special Gran Torino.
Engine & Drivetrain
Ford's legendary 400 cubic-inch V8 engine provides plenty of power
for the Car. It looks just as it did when it left the factory with
its blue painted engine block heads, intake, and factory ram air
cleaner assembly with the 400-2V factory decals, power steering,
power brake, air conditioning, and all sitting in the correct
original painted and detailed engine compartment.
The V8 power means effortless torque at any speed and the kind of
pulling power that defined luxury in the '70s. It floats down the
road like a good 70s machine with a C4 three-speed automatic
transmission as the chassis is very solid and all original.
It rides on stock steel wheels with wire hub caps and they are
wrapped in white sidewall radials to complete the original
look.
Interior
Inside, everything is original or in very good condition, with
comfortable white bench seats with twin arm rests and both having
headrests, the matching plush rear seat and door panels, the dash
and controls that wrap around the driver, including the original
AM/FM stereo, cruise control, and factory air conditioning,
dual-spoke steering, sporty Factory five-dial round gauge panel,
tan carpet and floor mats.
Out back, the spacious trunk has plenty of room for luggage and
houses a full-size spare, mat, and original jack set, and the
paperwork that goes with this car includes the Owners Manual and
Dealer Brochure.
Exterior
By 1976, the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino was at the height of its
popularity. But ours has a much more luxurious presentation.
The styling cues include the single headlight fascia unique to the
Elite model that was introduced a few years before that gives the
coupe an instant distinction, the luxury details in the yellow
paint job that is all factory-original, great matching trim line
rub strips, nice chrome bumpers front and rear, twin body painted
mirrors, hood emblem, and a vinyl roof.
