Here is a frame-off restored 1969 Chevrolet El Camino with a huge list of new items; floors, paint, interior, engine, transmission, Vintage Air, and so much more. The result is a beautiful classic that you can really drive and enjoy, with the utility of a pickup truck but the performance of a muscle car (albeit with good road manners).
This really is a nice car. As mentioned, the body was removed from the frame during the restoration. Be sure to see the underside pictures; they tell the story. The body was redone in its original color of Glacier Blue. Everything is shiny and straight with new parts throughout; chrome, trim, emblems, lenses, bezels, etc. It has a stock appearance with the exception of the SS treatment on the tailgate. The car rides on 15” Rally wheels with 215/60 tires all around.
The engine was replaced with a rebuilt 350ci small block. It has a mild cam and Edelbrock intake and carb with electric choke. The is also an HEI distributor along with a full serpentine belt drive. It starts easily and has just the right sound with its headers and Flowmaster mufflers. The transmission is a rebuilt TH350 while the rear end is a GM 10-bolt unit. The power front disc brakes provide great stopping ability, while the power steering makes it easy to maneuver at any speed. There are new parts galore; bushings, shocks, fuel tank, exhaust, etc.
The interior was changed from the original Medium Blue to a very attractive Parchment with a black dashboard and carpeting. A center console was also added with dual cupholders and a storage bin. The factory instrument cluster was retained while the radio was replaced with a modern digital unit with speakers behind the seat. There is also a complete Vintage Air heat / defrost / air conditioning system with a control panel mounted in front of the ash tray compartment. An aftermarket steering wheel was also installed.
This El Camino has seen a ton of work and the result looks great inside, outside, and underneath. You could not begin to duplicate this effort for anywhere near the asking price! It is also a great driving car with countless new parts and a few modern updates including air conditioning. There is nothing highly customized or exotic here; just proven reliable parts with the simplicity and availability of a 1960’s GM design. And now if you want to go tailgating, you can really go tailgating.
