GT350, along with GT500, as the last true Carrol Shelby designed
Mustangs of the era. Though the Shelby name would continue to be
used as a designation for high output Mustangs through the 1970
model year, Carrol Shelby himself would have little to no
involvement in this program. One the most substantial changes for
the 1968 production year, was the offering of the GT350 as a
convertible. Despite what was perceived to be a strong consumer
demand for a convertible model only 404 convertible 1968 GT350s
were ever purchased making the 1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible one of
the more collectible of the Shelby Mustangs. The Hagerty Valuation
tool values these cars from $95,000 for a #4 condition car to
$167,000 for a #1 condition car. This makes owning and driving this
1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 Convertible Tribute an outstanding value
you can own and drive without fear of damaging a rare Shelby. This
Mustang is a stunning to look at. While not an original yellow for
the color choice on this drop top it is a nice upgrade from the
factory Meadow Lark Yellow with black Shelby stripes and correct
Shelby Cobra emblems. The paint is well applied over professional
bodywork and presents very well with a deep luster and shine. The
convertible black top is well fitted and shows little if any wear.
The undercarriage is free of rust and there does not appear to be
any indications of any substantial rust or accident repair. The
body features the correct style twin scooped fiberglass hood and
along with fiberglass rear deck lid with spoiler and rear fender
scoops. The unique to only Shelby Mustang's is the 1965 Ford Galaxy
taillights which combine with the other body accoutrements to give
this convertible that look that is iconic yet timeless. This well
executed tribute is finished off with the correct Shelby 10 spoke
alloy wheels running on BF Goodrich Radial TA tires. The black
interior is fully restored and shows little if any wear since
restoration. The yellow GT350 seat inserts tie in nicely with the
exterior color. The dash features the factory gauges and an Auto
Meter column mounted tachometer. An additional set of Auto Meter C2
mechanical gauges are mounted in the console to ensure the engine
vitals are well monitored. You will be transported back to 1968 as
you grip the Shelby wood wheel and look over that louvered hood.
Alpine Speakers will fill the cabin with your favorite cruising mix
tape played over the Kenwood AM/FM Cassette Tape Deck that fits
professionally in the dash. Under the hood this Mustang adds a
little extra punch with a 302 V8 that has been bored and stroked to
347 CID and produces 400 HP. The engine compartment is show ready.
Just pull into your local show or cruise in and pop the hood to
show off the correct Shelby Cobra engine adornments. Subtle
upgrades such as braided coolant hoses, chrome shock tower supports
add to the neat engine compartment and it presents as well sorted
and neatly organized. The aluminum radiator and electric fan keeps
this hot set up running cool and the MSD ignition lights the fuel
distributed by the Holley dual feed four barrel. The suspension was
fully restored and features power front disc brakes. Suspension
upgrades include gas shocks and rear tractions bars. Exhaust flows
through long tube headers into Magnaflow XL series Turbo mufflers
and exiting through Shelby correct chrome tips. This drop t
