In 1968, Chevrolet touted the Camaro SS as the muscle car for the
fun crowd. The sales literature stated that it was a husky
performer and looks it. Equipped with a big engine, special
equipment features, and a ramped-up suspension made the SS model
stand out from the crowd.The 396 SS package included a hood with
two banks of four square shaped simulated air intakes, hood
insulation, the SS emblem in the center of the grille, a colored
band that accented the front, SS emblems below the Camaro scripted
lettering on the front fenders, special components on the chassis,
a 396 CID engine, and SS on the fuel filler cap. Dual exhaust was
offered at no additional cost. The RS package included the special
grille with hideaway headlights, front valance mounted parking
lights, lower body side moldings, wheel opening moldings, and rear
valance back-up lights.This is a great looking Camaro RS/SS that
was bought new in South Carolina. It is rare and highly optioned as
it came with the smog pump, factory AM/FM Multiplex radio, and AC.
Other options include tilt steering, rear window defrost, front and
rear spoilers, 15" Rally Wheels and new Coker tires. Car has been
well maintained throughout the years and exhibits Ash Gold paint
that is excellent condition. Body is straight and solid. The black
vinyl top looks new. All chrome and trim look new. The grille is in
excellent condition and features the hideaway headlights.Interior
is the black vinyl bucket seat console interior and has back and
white Houndstooth seat inserts. All interior components present
very well. The console features the factory gauges and the
Multiplex radio controls. The carpet is black and still looks new.
Dash and gauges have clear glass and present in above average
condition.Engine is the 396 CID and came paired with the 3-speed
automatic transmission. Both engine and transmission are original
to the car. Car starts, runs, and drives with excellent
performance. Undercarriage is clean and presents very well.This
owner has had the car for 21 years. Prior to that, the car was in
North Carolina for 16 years. This car was built at the Norwood
