Vehicle Description
This 1988 Ford Bronco II XLT 4x4 delivers the right mix of premium
features and true utility. With its cool two-tone paint, comfy
interior, fuel-injected power, five-speed, and versatile setup,
this one gets you there (everywhere) in style.
The trim tag tells us the Colonial White and Cabernet Red is the
factory-correct color combo. It has a sophisticated tone that's
right for an upper-market XLT trim, and while it's unknown if the
odometer represents the actual mileage, the two-tone continues to
look distinguished today thanks to a later respray. There are also
nice details like the chrome bumpers, deleted badging, fog lights,
and classic alloy wheels. The overall impression is what you want
on a useful classic. That means it's glossy and the panels align
nicely, but you won't think of it as a museum piece. After all, it
has the towing mirrors, a trailer hitch, a tall stance, and a
full-size spare on a swing-away mount. So it's always ready for an
adventure.
The color theme flips when you get inside. The bold red is not the
main color, and the white gives you some pinstripes in the cloth
seats. This is a highly original setup, and so it shows some signs
of use. But you can see from the pictures it is still quite clean
and complete - right down to little details like Ford's info
diagram in the center console. And because this is an XLT, you have
premium features like cruise control, power locks, a cup holder,
and provisions for power windows and factory air conditioning (they
will need servicing to ideally function again.) There are also
well-placed upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo and oil pressure
readout. This is a well-done driver's setup with the front bucket
seats, a tall shifter, and the dual-spoke steering wheel that gives
you a good view of the large speedo and tach.
These Broncos have such a great off-road reputation because they
combine a compact wheelbase with good ground clearance. Plus, this
has the best powerhouse of the Bronco II series, the fuel-injected
2.9-liter V6. So this is the one you want for the added torque to
pull you up the hill. Plus, this has a proper floor-shift two-speed
4x4 transfer case. While all of this sounds like your perfect
off-road toy, this Bronco is also equipped to be driven as long or
as far as you want. The five-speed transmission allows you to
cruise in overdrive comfort and extra passing power is only a
downshift away. Add in power steering and front disc brakes, and
you soon see how this is a great all-around SUV.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and touch-up paint.
