Vehicle Description
1936 Chevrolet Standard Coupe NO RESERVEVIN # M6117147 Mileage
shown 65235 Engine number: M6117147 207 cu in, Inline 6 cylinder,
79 hp; 3 speed floor shift transmissionChevrolet's big improvement
for 1936 was its adoption of hydraulic brakes for both the Standard
and Master Deluxe series. Standard models had a newly designed
box-girder frame, which was both stronger and lighter than the
former X-type frame. This 1936 Chevrolet coupe is complete. The car
was originally Taupe Grey but was repainted at some point in the
current color of brown. The paint looks good overall. The interior
is in original style and is in good usable condition. This is a
steel Fisher body with "turret" top, introduced in 1935. Turret top
meant the top was solid with no insert which was a big step forward
in auto manufacturing. GM's all-steel roof that was quieter,
tighter, and stronger. Manufacturing was faster and proved less
costly to make over the old wood-composite to center top
construction. This is a good car to make as a driver with a
mechanical refresh. This model has the large trunk and no rear
seat. The engine turns by hand, but we did not try to start it. The
transmission lever moves free through all gears. The car has been a
part of a large private collection for over 30 years, and has been
mechanically conserved for long-term display, plus it has been
serviced regularly for the past 10 years. All fluids have been
changed recently (2022). We noted that there is some body repair
during the repaint at some point; the rear panel has had repairs
made below the bumper brackets and the front panel below the grille
has some dents. Only rust-through noticed is in the lower body
panel on both sides just above running board and in front of rear
fenders. The parking brake does hold, but car will need a full
brake job as well as new tires. There is a spare tire but no jack
or tools. The car comes with Vintage Washington green plates (front
and back) with 1957 (57) registration metal tab. These Chevrolets
are getting hard to find especially with the body in decent
condition. Note: 6 FC03 17367 Tag on passenger front floor near
battery cover.
