I purchased this 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite (PHOEBE) in 1982 and she was refinished in turquoise over black leather upholstery as part of a refurbishment completed in 2016. The car is powered by a 948cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, equipment includes a black tonneau cover, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, removable side curtains, and polished 13″ wheels. Service performed under my ownership included refurbishing the engine and transmission as well as reupholstering the vinyl interior. This Bugeye Sprite is now offered with the manufacturer’s literature, service and refurbishment records, and a clean Iowa title in the my name, the seller.
The car was refinished in Honda Cool Turquoise as part of the aforementioned refurbishment under current ownership. Equipment includes a chrome grille, chrome rear bumperettes, side mirrors, and a single exhaust outlet. Multi-spoke 13″ Minilite-style wheels wear AH center caps and are mounted with Kumho Solus tires.The cabin features replacement bucket seats trimmed in black leather with a matching dashboard and vinyl door panel inserts. The car has black carpeting, and equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wood shift knob, door panel pockets, and a passenger-side grab handle The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 71,743 miles. SInce the rebuild only 109 miles have been driven.The 948cc inline-four was rebuilt in 2015 and features a green painted valve cover and twin SU carburetors. An electronic ignition system has been fitted and the spark plugs were replaced in October 2021.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that is stated to have been refreshed at the time of the engine rebuild.
