1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Z28 is the most famous Chevrolet RPO (regular production option)
code ever. No other option code has become so synonymous with high
performance. Other option codes have been used for well-known
packages such as Z22 (Rally Sport) and Z27 (Super Sport), but the
option names/descriptions became famous, not the RPO number. It has
also been said that 2 doors and 8 cylinders, but this could be a
coincidence because 28 was the next code in line!
A very nice menacing Medium Patriot Red Metallic, (Maroon), Camaro,
with a multi-port Fuel Injection V-8, cloth interior, no T-tops,
and Alloy wheels. A 1 family owner car, never seeing the winter or
snow with a rebuilt transmission and the winner of a preservations
award and that's the Cliff notes!
Exterior
Like a favorite toy, this was played with, then put away inside
until its next playdate. A 99,000 mile car with straight body
panels, which mind their gaps, nice dimple free lines, draped in
Medium Patriot Red Metallic which is showing very nicely. Dual
rectangle headlights hold guard duty on either side of the long
swooped front nose/integrated crash bumper. Dual hood inlets back
up to the black trimmed front windshield and tinted glass for the
passenger compartment. A spoiler is on the back and floats above
rounded lines for the rear. Shiny factory installed saw blade style
wheels are all around. Peachy...well, actually more Cinnamon Red
Hot!
Interior
A swing of the door and you are met with clean smooth gray cloth
covered door panels on top with molded gray plastic below for the
pulls and speaker housing. Just forward of the cloth is a black
panel holding the door actuator, power window, power window and
power mirror switches. Smooth, curved, form-fitted two tone
charcoal and gray broadcloth seats in bucket style in front and
back have been peppered with just the right amount of curvatures to
make them textural and interesting. Noted is a power adjustable
front driver's bucket seat. The standard dash fronts the seats and
is very clean with the exception of some glue residue left in the
center of the dash due to removed consignor added dress ups. Within
the center console is the factory automatic shifter with black knob
topper. Light gray carpeting in very good condition floods the
floors with its carpeted floor mats. The headliner is nice and
tight, and I'd call the interior all buttoned up without buttons!

Drivetrain
Let's take a 5.7 Liter V8, strap on some electronic fuel injection,
back it up with a rebuilt in 2013 4L60E 4-speed automatic
transmission to shift the gears for you. Out back is a 10-bolt rear
axle fitted with limited slip 3.23 gears, and we are now ready for
launch. An MSD ignition is on to light the fire and a K&N cold
air intake feeds the proper amount of air. Gnarly dude.
Undercarriage
Save for some expected surface rust on bare steel which is minimal,
we are all clean and green underneath. Independent front coil
spring suspension works with a torque arm and coil springs in the
rear to provide that sporty car ride. Power disc brakes all around
to bring you to a stop quickly and safely. A stock style single
exhaust with dual outlets is on. Divine.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and comfortable interior, grabbed me when I pushed
the accelerator to the floor. Nice smooth power, shifts easily, and
handles like it's on rails. All functions working save for the AC
blowing warm and the driver's window, while operational, needing
some adjustments to the regulator, nonetheless all still looking
good.
If you are in the market for a well-preserved piece of bow tie mid
90's go tie, then look no further. This near minty condition car
just rocks, the exterior Medium Patriot Red and interior
gray/charcoal combo and has a nice ground pounder under the hood. A
perfect combo to go for a weekend drive, and smoke some rubber, and
turn some heads! Bitchin'.
