Vehicle Description
This vehicle is located at our Indianapolis location
The GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1959 Chevrolet
Corvette for your consideration. This vehicle was acquired by the
current owner out of an estate collection where it was purchased in
largely the same condition that you see it here today. The
originally blue exterior on this Corvette features an older repaint
over what is a very strong body. This convertible makes an
excellent cruiser thanks to the smooth running V8 paired with the
2-speed automatic transmission. The interior on this convertible is
in good condition and is free of tears or major defects. A manual
convertible top is equipped that appears to be recently replaced
and is free of rips or tears. Currently showing 47,210 miles on the
odometer, this Corvette has tremendous potential to be turned into
a show car or enjoyed as is.
The C1 Corvette was the first generation of the now iconic sports
car offered by Chevrolet from the 1953 model year through 1962. A
brainchild of Harley Earl who recognized the return of GIs after
serving overseas were expressing an interest in MGs, Jaguars, and
Alfa Romeos that all showed a trend of small 2-seater convertible
sports cars. Earl was able to convince GM that America needed a
small 2-seater and a Special Projects team began working on the car
in late 1951.
