Loaded, and versatile - this 1989 GMC Jimmy 4x4 hits the mark for a
cool classic. And with everything from an overdrive transmission to
cold-blowing A/C, this remains quite a handy SUV.
The upgraded wheel package shown off by the tall stance is the
definition of outdoor elegance on the big GMC's squared-off
bodywork. The two-tone gray and black look nice with its detailed
style that includes the color-matched hardtop and a distinctive red
pinstripe to separate the colors along the body. It has the right
look of a premium SLE spec Jimmy, right down to the full body trim.
But the finish and body package never takes itself so seriously
that you'll stop using this as a real 4x4. After all, this has the
stance and stature of a vehicle built for fun and function. There
are even wide towing mirrors and a proper trailer hitch to make
sure you can take more of it all with you.
The SLE trim meant adding luxury to your capability. So the
interior has a long list of desirable features like power front
windows, power locks, cruise control, and cold-blowing air
conditioning. That last one is particularly important because this
was one of the last few years where you could remove the full rear
hardtop on the Jimmy and have a convertible-like SUV. There are
areas where you may decide to add an improvement or upgrades, but
overall, it feels like a commanding driver from day one. That's
because you have a high-back driver's bucket seat finished in a
plush cloth. The cup holder center console, tilt steering column,
and contoured gauge panel make it great for real drivers.
Under the hood is solid small block power with the 350 cubic-inch
V8. This is a center-bolt crate motor that's built with desirable
features like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a Chevy performance
intake, an HEI distributor, and Hedman headers feeding into the
dual exhaust. It's a powerful heart that's great for a true
off-roader like this. After all, the tall stance and Falken
Wildpeak tires work with the two-speed 4x4 transfer case to be
plenty of fun when the pavement ends. But as much as this all
sounds like a great way to drive through the dirt, the 700R4
four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, power steering,
power brakes, and front discs make this a pleasant 4x4 for all
occasions.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and maintenance
records. We like how this one gives you the clean and sturdy lines
that have made these such desirable classics. And the modifications
made to it are about enhancing the ability instead of making it too
pretty to get to work/play. So if you want to have fun today, and
work into something quite personal for tomorrow, you know this
Jimmy is an awesome classic SUV. Call now!
