Vehicle Description
This 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car convertible
is 1 of 500. That means it's a rare machine that was built to be
special from day one. That's why this one has been treated with
respect over its low-mileage lifetime. Of course, we'd never blame
you for enjoying this LS3-powered six-speed Z51 drop-top to its
fullest.
There were a lot of things to celebrate in 2008, and this pace car
does it all well. It was the 55th anniversary of the Corvette, the
debut of the LS3 V8, and it was the 30th anniversary of the first
Corvette Indy 500 pace car. In fact, the black and silver color
theme is inspired by the 1978 car. Of course, this now gets a
modern take with a neon green highlighting the power dome in the
hood and sleek side. And the way the silver fades into a checkers
flag makes sure these cars are instantly recognizable as something
special. And if you need any more proof that this is one of the
ultimate collector cars from its era, this one is actually coming
from the collection of an officer with the Corvette Collector Club
of America. Technically, we call these pace car replicas because
the original pace cars were the few that were actually on the
track, but these official cars built by Chevy have their own
built-in rarity. There were only 500 examples offered to the
public. That number is reduced to 266 for convertibles, and it gets
even rarer when you think about how infrequent a stick shift
example is. That's why a car like this would be so well preserved.
It has averaged under 1,400 miles annually and the fit and finish
would suggest it has logged even less time on the road. So you see
all the best details remain distinct, like the clear headlight
cover, Z51 rear spoiler, and those bright five-spoke alloy wheels.
And the Emerson Fittipaldi signature graphic on the rear is another
reminder of why 2008 is such a collectible year.
While the black roof looks great on this low-mileage car, it gets
even better when you take it down. That's because the black and
titanium gray two-tone interior harmonizes so nicely with the
special exterior color theme. The leather continues to look
attractive, and so you can clearly see the Indy 500 logos stitched
into the headrest. Memory power seats, a tilt/telescopic steering
column, and a head-up display remind you this is a driver's
machine. There are more great modern features, like power windows,
power locks, rear defogger, dual front airbags, side airbags,
push-button start, and the premium AM/FM/CD/XM touchscreen
infotainment system with Bose speakers. And when it comes to
comfort with the top down, it's terrific to have dual-zone
automatic A/C climate control and heated seats to dial-in the ideal
temperature.
The debut of the 6.2-liter LS3 motor is now a true part of the
Corvette legend, and so it's great to see the engine bay looking so
stock. You'll just see a clean style, good maintenance, and a few
subtle upgrades like the air intake. You get to take full control
of it thanks to the six-speed manual transmission. It only gets
better with the optional Z51 Performance Handling package. It not
only upgrades the four-wheel disc brakes to cross-drilled rotors,
but it also adds stabilizer bars, performance springs, and other
premium features that make this Vette feel like the C5 Z06 when
it's time to drive it hard. The Corvette also settles back into
commuter duty easily thanks to great anytime driving features like
cruise control and power steering.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet. This is the
Corvette that's great for showing, driving, and collecting. It's a
true instant classic preserved to be admired. Call today!!!
