Vehicle Description
1994 Ford F350 Dually
In the early days of automobile manufacturing, vehicles were sold
as a chassis only, and third parties added bodies on top. In 1913,
the Galion Allsteel Body Company, an early developer of the pickup
and dump truck, built and installed hauling boxes on slightly
modified Ford Model T chassis, and from 1917 on, the Model TT.
Seeking part of this market share, Dodge introduced a 3/4-ton
pickup with cab and body constructed entirely of wood in 1924. The
term pick up comes from the actual process of the build where the
owner would literally have the box installed then go pick it
up...hence pickup truck.
For consignment, a large and in charge dually long bed 4 door crew
cabbed F350 pickup truck. Complete with shiny aluminum wheels, a
recent tune up, new front suspension components, a 5-speed manual
transmission and cab top running lights, you can actually feel like
you are rolling in a big rig.
Exterior
A respray in the original Royal Blue Metallic covers the long steel
paneled protruding rear fenders crew cab truck. Panels are straight
and the paint presents well with a shiny finish, but does have some
chips, dings and runs in the finish. A blacked out front bumper
looms below the gray painted Ford blue oval badged grille. Outboard
of this grille are aerodynamic combination headlights and turn
signals with new lenses and a LED lighting upgrade. The bed is blue
and shows use which is typically what one would do with a truck.
16-inch 8 wheel nut chrome dishes are upfront, and on the rear are
the dual reverse dish shiny 8 wheel nut dual accommodating wheels.
These are framed above by a large fender bump out which also serves
to keep the bed at normal dimension whilst covering the outboard
wheels. Overall a nice presentation for a big rig style hauler for
the common man.
Interior
With all 4 doors swung open we see leafy camouflage seat covers
over the front high back bucket seats and a matching cover is on
the sprawling rear bench. Between the front buckets is an oversized
storage console complete with cup holders for both front and rear
seat passengers. The original dash and door panels show some wear
and staining but are in overall good condition. To the left of the
gauge cluster, we note the headlight switch and toggle for the 2
fuel tanks. To the right is an aftermarket AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth
capable stereo and the heater/AC dials. A gray textured rubber
floor is down below with the long black handled shifter is directly
on top of the hump. Up high, covering the expansive roof is a
slightly sagging cloth headliner and overhead console with courtesy
lighting and storage compartments.
Drivetrain
A big 460ci V8 with electronic fuel injection and a 5-speed manual
transmission have been installed by the factory. These appear to be
original, and in original condition showing some patina and
corrosion, and overall dusty. A Dana 60 limited slip 4.10 rear is
noted but only in the rear. She's a 2wd boys!
Undercarriage
Slight surface rust but nothing remarkable. Mechanically and
structurally sound radius arm, coil spring front suspension with a
slew of new components and leaf spring rear, this truck has been
used but cared for on the maintenance front. Power disc brakes
provide the stopping power on the front and in the back, we note
power drum brakes. A new Dynomax exhaust system is on and provides
a wonderful exhaust note while it removes spent gasses.
Drive-Ability
Climbing in you are immediately struck with the height you are
riding at, and it gives you a sense of invincibility. This truck
started right up and has good power and smooth shifting for lots of
hauling. Seats are comfortable, and there is certainly plenty of
room for the passengers. It rides like a truck but then again what
did I expect? The only frown to note during our drive was a soft
brake pedal, however the truck still came to a halt and a parking
brake that does not hold as well as it should. Otherwise, all else
was functioning swimmingly.
A life of use reflected in the surface fit and finish of a dually,
crew cab, nearly the largest pickup one could have. Bathed in nice
Royal Blue paint, and in fair to good condition overall. East bound
and down...
