Melanson Motors is proud to offer this incredible 1958 Pontiac Chieftain Catalina 2 Door Coupe. This car is an absolutely stunning example. In 1958, Pontiac expanded its engine options in hopes to solidify the brand’s performance image. The 370 Tri Power was new for 1958 with 3 Rochester two barrel carburetors mounted on a cast iron intake manifold. The engine produced 300hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque, which was a huge number for the time. It was a very rare option! 1958 was a unique year for Pontiac. They found great success on the track with a Pontiac winning the Daytona 500 that year. However, due to the recession the body style was redesigned for 1959 making the ‘58 models a unique one year only design. This particular example is a U.S car with rust free, original floors. The color combination of Black over White is beautiful and the paint is high quality. The chrome on this Chieftain is also very impressive. This Pontiac has power brakes and power steering. It starts and drives very well. The transmission is smooth shifting and the car is an excellent cruiser. The true spoke wheels with Pontiac spinners are wrapped in white wall tires. The continental kit installed on the back is a bolt on and is removable, if desired.
An excellent opportunity to own a rare and beautiful Pontiac!
