For Sale: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette in Richmond, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe (SWC) with a 327 CI/300HP engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Currently, the odometer reading is 56,146. Aside from the carburetor,
for which originality cannot be established due to missing tags, the car is "numbers matching". Whenever feasible, all useable parts that have been removed from the car have been retained and stored. The car has undergone an extensive "body-on-frame" restoration since purchased in 1999. A highly experienced Detroit-area Corvette mechanic performed the major mechanical work (powertrain rebuild and chassis restoration).

The following is a summary of the key restoration phases:

Powertrain rebuild and chassis restoration (1999-2005)
Engine wire harness (2001)
Steering wheel (2014)
Paint (2000/2001)
Bumpers (2015)
Power steering (2005)
Wheels and tires (2016)
Seats and carpeting (2013)
Instrument cluster restoration (2018)

The original transmission was replaced when the performance improvements were made in order to better pair-up the transmission with the increased horsepower of the re-built engine. From the identifiable markings, it is clear that this Corvette was equipped with the M-20 (tour-
speed) transmission option, but it now has a Borg-Warner T10 transmission. As previously mentioned, the original M-20 will also come with the car.

Since moving the vehicle from Detroit, engine tune-ups and minor restoration work have been performed at Studio Hot Rods in Richmond, IL. For the past 22+ years, this car has always been stored off-season in a heated garage. It is a "driver", but has never been driven in rain or snow, or on wet roads. Because original parts have been retained and stored, including important "numbers matching' powertrain parts, it could be restored to a "numbers matching" show car if desired by the purchaser or a future buyer. These parts, including the original "knock off'-style” wheels that were on the car when purchased, are considered part of the sale to a new owner, and will accompany its sale.

All invoices and other documentation prior to the car’s purchase in 1999 have been maintained, and are kept in a 3-ring binder that will also accompany the car upon sale. The original Owner's Manual, Corvette Shop Manual, Chiton's Repair Guide, and reference books used to document the authenticity of "numbers matching" will accompany sale of the vehicle. Also accompanying the sale of this car are two framed photos of computer printouts of 1963 Corvette SWCs (one White, and one Silver. The original color of this particular car), purchased from GM Media Archives.

Come see for yourself how clean and meticulously-maintained this 1963 Corvette Stingray Split-Window really is!
