Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is delighted to offer this immaculately restored 1967
Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa finished in its original factory
color combination of Polo Red over a black interior. This example
was built in May of 1967 and sold new by Glockler Porsche in
Germany.
This fully numbers-matching example underwent a ground-up concours
restoration by notable experts and has traveled less than 500 miles
since completion. The car was disassembled and the tub was sent to
Empire Restoration in Sand City, California where a complete
bare-metal refinish was performed. Following the stripping of the
tub, new Wurth undercoating was applied and the car was refinished
in its factory shade of Polo Red utilizing Glasurit paint.
David Loop European performed the complete mechanical work for the
car including full overhauls of the numbers matching engine,
gearbox, suspension, and braking systems. Following assembly, the
car was sent to K&H interiors where a complete new interior in
black leather was installed. All of the car's chrome was refinished
by Superior Chrome and the car's zinc and chromate components were
refinished by Swift Metal Finishing. The original Fuchs wheels were
refinished by renowned specialist Harvey Weidman.
Following restoration, the car was entered into the 2016 Carmel By
The Sea Concours and took first place in its class, certifying the
outstanding level and attention to detail that was performed during
the restoration.
The car was minimally optioned from the factory to include a
Websato heater, warning lights, and Dunlop tires. The Webasto
heater was fully restored and reinstalled in the car during the
restoration but was disabled as period gas heaters were not
designed with safety in mind and could be a potential fire hazard.
At some point, a set of very rare and valuable 1967 factory sport
seats were sourced for the interior and were restored when the
interior was completed. Although not original to the car, the sport
seats round out the aesthetic of the interior and provide much
better support for spirited driving.
This 1967 Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa is one of just 483 built
and presents as likely the nicest example available anywhere in the
world. Factory soft window targas have become one of the most
valuable and sought-after 911s that one can own and add to a
collection. This example has been painstakingly restored and
retains all of its factory original panels. The level of finish
from the exterior paint down to the most superficial of nuts and
bolts is second to none and will provide its next owner with both
the experience of a better than new 1967 911 and a car that can be
entered into any concours event immediately with a strong chance of
winning. If you are in the market to add a blue-chip early 911 to
your Porsche collection, this is a must-consider example.
