1957 Chevrolet Corvette - Fuel Injected 283ci V8 - 4 Speed Manual
Transmission - Red and White Over Red Interior - Tan Convertible
Top (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1957 Chevrolet
Corvette on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's
possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the
car due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access
the more than 150 photographs, as well as a short start-up and
walk-around video, and a link to the Mustang's
accident-and-damage-free Carfax history report, please go to our
main website: Garage Kept Motors.) It's hard to believe that Prince
wasn't thinking about this '58 when he wrote Little Red Corvette.
Redesigned in 1956, the Corvette got a big mid-year upgrade in 1957
with the introduction of a Rochester fuel injection system
providing a more than a 40-horsepower bump. Paired with the 4-speed
manual transmission the Corvette finally had the performance to
back up its looks. (To best assess the quality of the paint and
trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of
the car in the accompanying gallery.) Exterior €" Red over white
coves, this is quintessential Corvette. Red wheels with chrome
knock-off hubcaps are shod in Goodyear whitewall tires. Beautiful
bright work adorns every corner of this Corvette. At the front you
will find the pre-1958 single headlight front fascia. Out back you
will find gorgeous fender-exit exhausts under the taillights. A
color matched tonneau cover conceals a beige convertible top. All
glass is clear and free of cracks, and all lights are bright and
free of blemishes. Interior €" The epitome of they don't build
things like they used to the craftsmanship evident in the interior
of this Corvette is stunning. Beautiful gauges span the width of
the dash, with the tachometer front and center. A chrome topped
shifter lets everyone know this is a proper 4-speed sports car.
Bright red leather adorns the cabin and is complimented by white
accents to match the two-tone exterior paint. (To best assess the
quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the
close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.)
Mechanical €" What more is there to say about a Fuelie? Once the
pinnace of automotive technology the Rochester fuel injection
system truly made the Corvette a world beating, everyday sportscar.
Not just an engine on wheels, the transmission is a joy as well.
From Sports Car Illustrated €" 1957, The gear ratios in the four
speed gearbox (at last!) are marvelously spaced - the ratio step
between gears ranges from 1.265 to 1.325 - and all gears are
synchronized (will wonders never cease?). It is at least the equal
to any gear box we've ever tried, not only with respect to the
suitability of the ratios to the engine performance, but the
smoothness of the synchromesh brings to mind the old metaphor about
a hot knife and butter. While the more than 175 high-definition
photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available
on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '57 Corvette in
detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and
encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan
showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our
showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch
anytime by phone or email if you have questions.
