Vehicle Description
2017 Chevrolet 3500 Silverado High Country Dually
General Motors introduced its first pickup truck in 1930. It took
40 years of manufacturing vehicles before the term "Silverado" was
first coined. From 1975 to 1999, the term "Silverado" was used to
designate the trim for Suburbans, Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks, and
Tahoes. During that time, GMC used a few variations of the "Sierra"
name (such as High Sierra for example). Today, Chevrolet still uses
the CK and CC designations in their most current model codes. For
their entire history, GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado trucks
share the same mechanical build, though there have been slight
differences here and there. For example, there have been add-on and
trim variations that are unique to each truck.
For consignment, a big rig style Silverado from 2017 and it eats
and breathes fuel through a big 6.6 Liter Duramax diesel and an
Allison transmission. A one owner, 40,765 original mile, rust-free
example bathed in black and peppered with chrome and black plastic
working together to form the exterior add ons like bumpers, running
board rails and prolific badging. A beautiful spray in lined bed,
4x4 capabilities, and the extra room from that crew cab, we have
arrived for work and play.
Exterior
Beautifully straight steel exterior panels bathed in GM black
paint, mind their gaps well for this big truck exterior. A
smattering of chrome accenting mixed with jet black neoprene adorn
the bumpers, grille, and door trimmings. Speaking of the grille, it
includes an electro-luminescent bowtie dead center that illuminates
when the headlights are turned on. Black plastic and chrome make up
the foot/running boards below the cab. A chrome highlighted vent is
inset towards the front of the hood which leads back to the ample
passenger compartment. Tinted glass is throughout, including for
the power sunroof and defroster enabled sliding rear window. Large
flares bump out from the bed to accommodate the dual rear wheel set
up and the bed is covered with a Truxedo low profile bed cover and
lined with Line-X spray in liner in excellent condition looking
barely used. A 5th wheel assembly is mounted in the bed to handle
all your heavy-duty trailering needs. On the back we see a locking
tailgate complete with Chevrolet bowtie, High Country badging, some
custom pinstriping, and SILVERADO in single chrome block letter.
This tall truck is jacked up for extra ground clearance for the 4x4
and has shiny polished wheels on all 4 corners wrapped in almost
new blackwall radial rubber.
Interior
Opening the drivers door we see the nearly perfect condition brown
vinyl molded door panels with a tan leather inlay and armrest as
well as Bose speakers and a black panel for the power window,
mirror and lock control. Also on this panel are the memory buttons
for the driver's seat position. Climbing up and into this luxurious
big rig cabin we take a test sit on the tan and brown leather front
bucket seats which are not only powered for infinite adjustment,
but they are also heated and ventilated. These are flanking a large
and in charge center console complete with a leather topped
armrest/storage area, cup holders and another storage bin and its
rise the dash with multiple power plug in locations and wireless
charging capability! Above all this menagerie is the climate
controls and the Bose AM/FM/CD radio with Navigation. The original
dash instrument panel is in front of the driver and has the full
gauge package for ultimate monitoring. Meanwhile to the left of the
cluster is the headlight dial, 2wd/4wd selector dial and brake
adjuster for the trailer brakes. All of this is fronted by the
original heated leather wrapped steering wheel complete with
stereo, Bluetooth, and cruise control buttons. Slipping through the
full size rear door we arrange ourselves on a large bench for 3
additional passengers, in matching leather to the front buckets.
Clean brown carpeting floods the floors and is protected by all
weather mats and a tan headliner highlighting the power sunroof and
overhead console is above. Plenty of power conveniences are
installed options on this truck making it more luxury vehicle than
hauler.
Drivetrain
A 6.6 Liter Duramax diesel With EFI is crammed under the hood and
makes an impressive 445hp and an even more impressive 910ft/lb of
torque. This engine is equipped with an exhaust brake, just like
its big rig brethren. A 6-speed Allison automatic transmission on
the back is under the hood. 3.73 gearing with Positraction is the
selection for both the front and rear axles. All is clean and looks
good with this power plant.
Undercarriage
Underneath is all extremely clean and just a slight hint of some
surface rust is noted. All solid and buttoned up on the structural
front, and on the suspension, we see all HD parts. Independent
torsion bar suspension is up front and leaf springs are on the
rear. 4-wheel power disc brakes bring you and your load to a stop.
We note this truck is equipped with the trailer towing package
which includes a brake controller, Stabilitrak stability control
with trailer sway control and hill start assist. Looking good down
below courtesy of low miles and a caring consignor.
Drive-Ability
This monster Duramax fired right up, and ran like a large truck
with all 8 cylinders delivering power to the wheels. It took right
off and has lots of power to spare so with the added hitch you
could tow something...easily. All was working very nicely, and a
comfy cab loaded with amenities if you will.
If you're looking for the most powerful heavy-duty pickup in the
Silverado lineup, then you've just found it. The 2017 Chevrolet
Silverado 3500HD is not only capable, but smooth and comfortable as
well. Outside is a high-strength steel frame and durable features
and inside is a quiet cabin with the latest in Chevy technology.
Whether you need a truck for your full-time business, or just to
tow your fifth-wheel trailer on the weekends, this truck can handle
anything you throw its way.
