Vehicle Description
This 1991 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am comes from a desirable year and
it has the ultra-desirable WS6 suspension. But what really caught
your eye is how this loaded low-mileage T-top coupe knows how to
stand out correctly.
This Trans Am was spent over 15 years with the previous owner being
treated as a true collector vehicle. You can see that just from the
odometer that has barely averaged over 850 miles annually. And the
1991 cars are worth preserving because they were the debut of a
refreshed style that only lasted a couple of years. This appears to
be the original Gunmetal Gray paint and it still has a fantastic
shine. That's what comes from being treated as a garage-kept
collector car. But the appeal here is more than just a
well-respected style. What makes this one extra fun is that it has
been upgraded with some of the best custom details that pay tribute
to some of the best Pontiacs around. The full body kit, vented
hood, and lattice wheels are inspired by the GTA. The rear panel
looks like it came from a Fiero GT. And the shaker-style hood and
quad exhaust tips are pure Bandit-era cool. And more than just the
best of Pontiac, this one has its own sense of style with the
custom rear spoiler and custom black racing stripes with cool red
pinstriping. The result is a preserved and unique Trans Am.
Because a T-top coupe is meant to be open to the world, we love the
coordinating shade of light gray inside. Plus, the seats are made
of a comfortable cloth, so you never have to worry about hopping in
on a hot day. Low mileage also means little seat time, so the
original interior is as well-preserved as the exterior. And just
like the outside, the inside of this T/A has the right sporty
touches of red. This is a driver's car with the full sporty round
gauge layout, and these later 3rd-gen machines even benefited from
an airbag. And because this was a premium Pontiac, it also came
loaded with features everyone can enjoy. That means power windows,
power locks, power mirrors, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo. Plus,
the air conditioning is blowing nice and cold so you can enjoy the
open-top experience well into the summer season.
These third-generation T/As are especially desirable for what's
under the hood. After all, we all love a classic that also includes
a fuel-injected V8. The 5.0-liter TBI motor has the same style as
the rest of the car, and so you get the right mix of good respect
and added flair. GM's 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission was a
good pairing because it's stout enough to handle the power and
torque while also smoothly getting you into overdrive comfort. The
factory buildsheet lets us know this came with the WS6 suspension
option. This includes sway bars front & rear, special shock
absorbers, performance coil springs, and a limited-slip rear end.
Those upgrades made the WS6-equipped Pontiac one of the
best-handling domestic sports cars of the day.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet and the
factory buildsheet. This is the desirable year Trans Am that has an
irresistible mix of preservation and upgrades. So don't miss this
