Vehicle Description
1958 Chevrolet Corvette
The Corvette was introduced in 1953 and remained in production for
almost 70 years. These 2 passenger luxury cars tapped into a whole
new market and were known for performance and their unique
fiberglass or composite bodies. After the concept car was first
introduce it proved to gain an audience and was put into production
that same year. It has been known as "America's Sports Car" and
many point to it as being one of, if not the most successful
concept car in history. There are 8 different generations currently
with this beautiful 1958 C1 belonging to the first. The car has
undergone a complete frame off restoration that was very well done
with close attention to detail. The car was professionally
completed by a Shelby and Corvette builder in Texas. It was
finished around 2012 and has 507 miles since completion. The body
is in excellent condition and painted in a very nice Black which
combines nicely with Silver coves. All of the original chrome and
trim has an excellent finish and is cleanly mounted place. Just a
year later a lot of the body chrome was removed which makes these
'58s really stand out. These were kind of a transition year for the
C1 as they now had quad headlights but still retained more of the
original looking rear before they changed to the "duck tail"
design. The front ends were also lengthened in '58, they had
exhaust exiting through the bumpers and it was the only year for
the exclusive louvered hood. All of the glass like the windshield
and side mirrors are in great condition with no issues. The Black
convertible canvas top looks good and it does not come with a
hardtop. The car has its original style wheels with hubcaps and
Coker Classic wide white wall tires.
During the restoration process the motor was upgraded to a rebuilt
327 V8 motor. Under the hood everything is very cleanly done and
looks all factory. It has nice Corvette valve covers and a chrome
air cleaner. The car also has a rebuilt 4 speed manual transmission
that came out of a 1964 Corvette. During the restoration every
mechanical component was gone through. The suspension, brakes, and
steering was all rebuilt to stock components. It also received a
new gas tank and anything the car needed, it got. It runs and
drives very well with no smoking and sounds great.
The interior was all redone in nice Red upholstery that is in
excellent condition. The interiors in 1958 also received some
redesigns with a new steering and a new dash with gauges faced
directly towards the driver. The gauges had a very unique almost
aircraft look with a large speedo with forwarding sitting gauge pod
for the fuel/temp/amp/oil and tachometer. The original style bucket
seats have matching lap belts and the upholstery looks great.
Mounted to the floor is a Hurst shifter that moves through the
gears smoothly.
This is a very well built high end example of the C1 Corvette and
this one runs and drives great. With so few miles since completion
everything is very fresh and looks like it was just done. The
process of restoring a car is a long and difficult one so here is a
chance to take advantage of a car that is ready for the road!
