No need to despair, we have a viable alternative at MotoeXotica Classic Cars in this 1973 Jeep Commando 4x4. Made in September 1972 in Toledo, Ohio, this is one of those rare ?bull nose? Commando. Nineteen seventy- three was the final model year for the nameplate and only the second year it wore the Jeep nameplate. This Jeep has undergone a comprehensive restoration and has a new 2.5-inch lift. Dressed in Trans-Am Red with a factory white hardtop that is removable, the truck?s paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. The bodywork is straight and solid, the white painted bumpers fit tightly to the body and the engine bay is extremely tidy. The cargo area in the rear looks good. A previous owner treated this Jeep to a 2.5-inch lift kit. This Commando rolls on new BFGoodrich Baja Champion All-Terrain T/A tires, size 31x10.50R15LT at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a steel wheel, topped with a correct factory wheel cover. The wheel covers look great. Out back is an optional rear spare tire carrier with an older BFG Baja Champion tire, size 30x9.50R15LT. Under the hood is a rare factory option, AMC?s 304 CID V-8 engine. Backing the motor is a Borg-Warner T-15 three-speed manual transmission and Dana 20 dual-range transfer case. Power is routed via a Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 44 rear axle. Driver convenience features include factory power steering and a conversion to power brakes with discs in front. Inside, the Jeep has an Oyster-colored vinyl interior. The 60/40 split front seat is in overall very good condition, as is the companion rear bench seat. There are floor mats in place of carpeting and the tan headliner is in satisfactory order. A factory two-spoke steering wheel faces the driver. The bronze metal instrument panel and inner door liners look great. A factory AM radio and transfer case lever and floor shift lever complete the interior. Competition to this Commando in 1973 included Chevrolet?s Blazer, Ford?s Bronco, GMC?s Jimmy, International-Harvester?s Scout II and Toyota?s Land Cruiser.
