1956 Mercury Custom Phaeton

In 1956 Mercury produced and marketed a "low silhouette" 4 door hardtop model as a Phaeton. The car earned quick acclaim and would continue being a stand out amongst early '50's cars for their exceptional styling and sound engineering. The Montclair did resist the extreme fin temptation, preferring to set the car apart in its own way.
The Monterey was available as a convertible, sedan, a pillar-less coupe and station wagon. The sedan was given the Phaeton moniker and is very impressive with the hardtop styling grabbing your attention. The car features extensive chrome front and back as well as well as full length lightening bolt body trim. Add the distinctive hubcaps and you have one of the nicer looking cars on the road not only back in the 50s but even yet today!
The car featured at auction is a very nece example! The Mercury was meticulously restored back in the mid 90's, with a lot of time and effort going into the build. The quality of the build makes the car stand out even today. The beautiful two tone grabs attention wherever the car goes and has won many awards in local and regional car shows.
