For sale is my custom, high performance LS V-8 powered Chevy S10 truck. This is a professionally built project, not a junk-yard swap. I built this truck to be a “sleeper” and a daily driver. It retains the appearance of a stock S10 with more than double the horsepower and torque of the stock V-6 version. The only external clue that this is not a stock truck is the exhaust note.
The project started with a 1998 S10 V-6, automatic truck. I used this truck for my daily driver for several months in its original condition. I had the opportunity to buy a low mileage 5.3 LS truck motor (LM7) and the 4L60E transmission that was originally mated to it and that started the project.
The truck itself was restored with a new interior, leather seats, custom instrument cluster, full paint job, bed liner, tonneau cover as well as numerous mechanical upgrades.
The LS engine was dismantled down to a short block, thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Cylinders and bearing were checked for wear confirming that it was a low mileage take out. The engine was then reassembled with new gaskets and numerous new and upgraded parts.
The transmission was fully rebuilt and upgraded with parts to take higher horsepower loads. It was fitted with a custom 2600 rpm stall speed lock-up converter.
The entire power train is controlled by a Fitech engine management computer that is user programmable. You can sit in the driver’s seat and control the engine and transmission with the included touch pad.
The truck is seriously fun to drive. Acceleration is impressive and traction is not a problem. I’ve been driving it with 89 octane fuel. I believe it will run fine on 87 with the current tune if you’re worried about fuel prices. With the Fitech system you can set it up to run on any grade of fuel.
All the hard work is done. You can use this truck as a daily driver like I have, turn it into a show-cruiser or go the next steps to turn it into a nasty race truck.
