Vehicle Description
This week Canyon State Classics brings to market a VERY clean 1983
Mercedes-Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel. This is the short wheelbase and
most economical configuration of the W126 chassis.
This car is very special in several ways. This car has just
undergone TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS of recent refreshing after coming
out of long term storage. The car was just with our Mercedes master
tech undergoing a final comprehensive inspection and fine tuning
and he has given the car a big thumbs up!
This 1983 S-Class has been in the same Walnut, California owned
family since new and has covered just under 63,000 miles. This car
is rust free with beautiful mint condition Palomino Leather
interior and light Zebrano wood. The car has been well taken care
of and just received a full fresh service including injectors and
all mounts and front suspension work on arrival. The car has also
had brakes serviced, new Bilstein shocks installed, fresh radial
tires, fully serviced A/C system, new Bluetooth CD radio as well as
beautiful glass Euro headlamps. The car had been parked in a garage
for many years waiting to overhaul the front suspension and
injectors when the previous owner passed away. We have gone through
the car from front to back and its ready for a long distance trip
no problem.
The following is a list of options as this 300 SD is currently
equipped:
-OM117A 3.0L 5 Cyl Turbo Diesel
-4 Speed Automatic Transmission
-Ice Cold A/C
-Cruise Control
-Power Windows
-Power Door Locks
-Power Antenna
-Fog Lamps
-Automatic Climate Control
-Original Leather Interior
-Power Sunroof
-Original Becker Grand Prix Cassette
The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely
well maintained. The paint on the car is finished in its original
color of Arctic White and has a brilliant shine and not a ding to
be found. All rock chips were professionally touched up by
airbrush. The car has been completely inspected underneath from
front to back and is solid as a rock as any well cared for garaged
lifelong Arizona car should be. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber
seals are in great shape. The car looks as nice as the day it
rolled off the Mercedes lot. It just had a full detail done at a
cost of over $500 so this car looks spectacular! The car is
accented by the original set of correct wheels which were just
restored and wrapped in brand new Good Year radials.
The interior is in very nice original condition all around. Its
life long garage storage is obvious at close examination of the
crack and fade free interior. The dash and door panels are in very
nice condition with zero cracks or damage to be noted anywhere. The
palomino leather seats are all in very good condition and look
almost new, which shows the quality of leather used in this car.
All wood grain is in excellent condition with only minor cracking
visible around the shifter. The carpets are all very nice are not
worn or damaged. The car also has BRAND NEW Mercedes OEM floor
mats. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows
and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also
very nice with the original Becker Grand Prix sound system. All
lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The
trunk compartment is very clean and does have the original jack,
tools, and the spare tire and wheel. This car is all there and in
excellent shape with all functions and accessories working as they
should.
Mechanically, this SDL runs GREAT! I have owned nearly 20 80's and
90's era Mercedes vehicles, and this one is the creme of the crop!
The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. The Turbo Diesel
engine is much more responsive than the normal version. The
Turbocharged OM617.951 was introduced for 1981 and displaced 3.0 L
(2,998 cc), using a 90.9 mm 92.4 mm (3.58 in 3.64 in) bore and
stroke. Power originally was 121 PS (89 kW; 119 hp) @ 4350 rpm,
torque 230 Nm (170 lbft) @ 2400 rpm. From August 1984 - 125 PS
(92 kW; 123 hp) @ 4350 rpm, torque 250 Nm (184 lbft) @ 2400 rpm.6
#fn6 Vehicles sold to the North American market had EGR equipment
fitted. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily
available. We just did a lot of major work when this came in
including resealing and calibrating transmission, rebuilt injector
pump, new shocks, new brakes, new A/C compressor, new intake
manifold gasket, new master cylinder, and I just installed Brand
New Kumho tires on this beauty! The 3.0L Diesel Mercedes workhorse
engine was used nearly 30 years, so you know it is just plain
reliable. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at
autobahn speeds above 90mph. The car was always regularly serviced
and shows it in how flawless the car drives. The car is tight and
right as any low mileage car should be with no current mechanical
issues.
All in all, this is THE cleanest and lowest mileage SD that I have
had the privilege of being associated with. It has been
professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners.
This Mercedes is a fantastic car for the price and includes every
option offered in this car. Any further questions please call Jon
at 480-703-2337. The car is located in Sunny Tempe, Arizona. Canyon
