1972 Ford Maverick Spirit
Car History
As you probably know, the new Ford Maverick is coming to
revolutionize the small pickup truck market in America. Over five
decades ago, however, Ford used the Maverick name for something
quite different.
They made a rear-drive two-door coupe, like the 1972 Ford Maverick
Spirit we have here at Adventure Classics. The "Sprint" package
offered for 1972 featured white and blue two-toned paint with red
pinstripes and a special color-coordinated interior. The rear
quarter panels included a stylized U.S.A. flag shield. This trim
package acknowledged the 1972 Olympics and was available for only
one year
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood sits the 250 cubic inch engine that we believe to be
the original engine. It has all the stock parts on it like the
factory blue block, head, intake, valve cover, and factory air
cleaner.
It has had an upgraded replacement aftermarket radiator for better
cooling on hot summer days.
Interior
The interior in our Sprint features the blue & white vinyl bench
seat with column mounted automatic shifter, factory dash and
gauges, factory black steering wheel, blue carpeting, factory
radio, matching rear seat, and all looks as it did back in
1972.
It is very clean and is a real time capsule of a car from top to
bottom nearly all stock parts are still on this Maverick.
Exterior
Our very nice original Sprint and has the great special Sprint
paint job of the blue & white U.S. Olympic team on it with red
stripping running down the sides as well as blue painted twin scoop
hood panels that really set it off.
The stance is as the factory look with the Ford Sprint package
wheels with chrome trim rings and raised white letter tires that
looks tuff too.
Conclusion
The 1972 "Sprint" package Maverick that we have for sale here at
Adventure Classics was offered for 1972 and featured the white and
blue two-toned paint with red pinstripes, a special
color-coordinated interior, and rear quarter panels included a
stylized U.S.A. flag shield.
This Maverick is the ideal beginner collector car for those seeking
a weekend ride with both style and performance, and something
special and rare.
