For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Nova in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a rare find! Documented with protect-o-plate, it's a real SS 396. Born with, #s match motor, trans, rear and colors. Optional 350 hp. Body off frame restored with photo documentation. Original metal.

What is a protect-o-plate? It is the metal warranty plate which has the motor, trans and rear end numbers. If you brought the car in under warranty they would check those numbers to make sure those components were not changed. Today it serves the same purpose, it verifies the components are original. It also gives the original dealership and buyers names.

EXTERIOR: Claimed to have original metal. It is laser straight, no rust or damage. Bottom inside of the doors are clean. The gaps are square and flush, doors shut like new. Repainted it's original Cortez silver. The metal flake is laid out evenly, the clear coat is deep and glossy. I did not find any flaws. The bumpers, handles, bowtie mirror, emblems, moldings, grill, hood grills, tail panel were replaced. Weatherstrips are excellent. The glass is very clear. Original wheels were painted silver, has poverty caps. Reproduction Wide Oval redline tires.

INTERIOR: I'm sitting inside the car right now and it is very tidy. The bucket seats have been recushioned, front and back seats were reupholstered. The plastic trim on the seats are excellent. Door panels and armrests are excellent. The dash area is excellent. It has original radio and cigarette lighter. Instrument panel is real nice, dash pad is mint. Steering wheel looks like it's new. Down on the floor is is real nice carpet, reproduction floor mats and a Hurst 4-speed. Headliner, visors and mirror are excellent. Dome light and glovebox light work. New glovebox liner. It has glovebox pouch with owner's manual and protect-o-plate.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin #, casting # and dates match. It is the original 396 with 350 hp. It has the proper manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner, fuel filter and even the throttle solenoid. It has date coded plug wires, #s match alternator. It has the correct big block heater box, power brakes and hood insulation. The squirters are hooked up, battery is bolted down. Correct hoses, clamps, cap. The shroud and rubber flap are excellent. It is very authentic and proper.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rust free original metal. I don't see any splices in the quarters either. It's been neatly spattered painted. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted smooth and glossy. It has a silver painted rim with a Good Year polyglass tire for a spare. It also has complete jack assembly. The mat, weatherstrip and stickers have been replaced.

UNDERSIDE: All the components were removed from the bottom including the frame. The subframe, suspension, steering were completely rebuilt and detailed. The rear suspension was rebuilt. The brake system was completely restored, It has disc in front. E-brake assembly is hooked up. Fuel system was replaced including the tank, straps and sending unit. A correct exhaust system was installed with transverse muffler. Bottom of the motor is clean. Vin # matching M-20 Muncie 4-speed. It looks fresh, linkage looks new. It has the original 12 bolt 3.31 posi rear it was born with. The rear was completely taken apart and rebuilt- axles, bearings, posi etc. The floors are clean, dry original metal.

This is a special Nova. It not only looks amazing, it functions and feels just as good. Very rare to have a documented, #s match throughout big block, 4-speed Nova. I believe this to be a good honest car! Investment grade.
