While the 1982 Chevrolet Corvette was the first year for fuel
injection across the whole lineup, this one does it with a much
meaner stroker motor upgrade. In fact, the details reveal plenty of
receipts that show how this final-year C3 unleashes a ton of power
on the streets.
The first thing that strikes you about this coupe is the color. The
best Corvettes are usually black or red. This is a factory red car
changed over to black... so you have the best of both worlds. The
finish retains a good gloss to show off the well-kept low-mileage
body while also never getting too fancy to make you shy away from
driving this one. This final-year C3 had plenty of sporty attitude
from the factory with features like the deep chin spoiler, ducktail
end, and N90 aluminum wheels. Plus, this one makes sure to have a
meaner style with blackout trim and bright dual exhaust tips.
One of the reasons why we like the switchover to the black exterior
is because it makes the factory-correct dark red interior stand out
even more. The red on the door panels, center console, dash, and
fold-down bucket seats all look like it was cared for by a true
Corvette enthusiast. It's loaded with options like a power driver's
seat, power windows, power locks, tilt/telescopic steering column,
cruise control, and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo. For the driver,
there's a three-spoke sports steering wheel. Beyond that is the
large speedometer and tachometer package in front and a full gauge
panel prominently to the side. You can show this fantastic interior
to the world as you go cruising around with the T-tops off.
The final-year C3 was special because it was the only time the full
lineup got a fuel-injected V8. This one keeps that spirit but
upgrades the power. It's a 383 cubic-inch stroker V8. This features
a roller cam, aluminum heads, an Edelbrock Performer EPS intake,
and is topped with a FiTech electronic fuel injection system.
You'll also sport good supporting components like an HEI
distributor, high output starter, finned aluminum valve covers, and
an aluminum radiator with electric fans. And a nice set of headers
let this enhanced V8 exhale with added power and authority. This
was all part of a large upgrade in 2018, and we have over $16k in
receipts documenting the work. Even the 700R4 four-speed automatic
transmission was upgraded with a shift kit and 3000 stall to work
with this upgraded powerhouse. Add in the fully independent sports
suspension, power steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes and
this awesome Corvette is a true all-around great driver.
