One of the greatest gauges for collectability is rarity combined
with terrific care. This 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertible is a
special Summer Edition. This was all about creating a limited
edition that maximized its cruiser appeal, and yet this example has
exceptionally low mileage. Addin the excellent documentation, and
this is a superbly preserved collectible.
The first-gen Mustang made history with cool special editions like
the California Special and High Country Special. And Ford would
even continue that tradition with the Fox body cars. This Summer
Edition is a unique car that may be as rare as less than 3k ever
made. The uniqueness of this car starts with the paint. Vibrant Red
is a color exclusive to the special cars. And because the red is so
cool to have, Ford gave it color-matched upgrades like the side
mirrors, windshield pillars, and special rear spoiler. But the most
distinct color-matched style has to do with the white. The
five-spoke sport wheels look awesome in white, and the coordinating
white roof gives it a true Americana kind of two-tone. The
exceptionally low mileage means we would have put more on the
odometer if just once a year we just drove from our showroom to
Myrtle Beach and back for a summer beach day. But what this really
signals is a dedication to preservation for 30 years. So while this
one is old enough for you to hang a vintage plate on the back, it's
impressive for how nearly showroom-fresh it looks.
The power soft top folds down to reveal a white interior. So this
special package has the great red and white combo no matter if
you're buttoned up or open to the world. And as you look inside,
you can see there's a lot to showcase. The bright white leather
upholstery has beautiful contrast black piping, there are bright
red floor mats, and the white convertible boot is a great
coordinating touch. The LX model is a great luxury touring machine,
so it will be easy to add miles to the low odometer. You have a
power driver's seat, cruise control, power windows, power mirrors,
power locks, and the factory premium AM/FM/cassette stereo with
equalizer. There are also provisions for air conditioning and so it
will just need servicing if you want cold air added to the top-down
breezes. While this one comes with the security of a driver's
airbag, it doesn't block the view of the full gauge panel,
including the large speedo and tach.
The 5.0-liter fuel-injected V8 under the hood is a true legend.
Powerful, hardy, and versatile, it has helped grow the devotion to
the Fox body cars. So it's great to have it presented as clean and
correct as the rest of this car. The V8 fires up eagerly and runs
smoothly, which lets you know that low mileage didn't mean skipping
proper care. This is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission
that feeds the desirable limited-slip rear end. Add in power
steering, power brakes, front discs, and sway bars front & rear and
you have a solid-driving drop-top.
The sale comes with terrific paperwork, including the original bill
of sale, original window sticker, warranty card, owner's manual
packet, and title documentation. It all makes this exceptional pony
car a true collectible. Call now!
