It takes bright paint, a throaty exhaust, and plenty of chrome to
turn heads when going down the street. That's why this 1979 Ford
F-100 Ranger gets plenty of attention. It makes for the kind of V8
classic cruiser you always hoped was out there.
Ford put everything they had into the F-100 for 1979. This was the
last year for the highly stylized chrome accents on their
upper-level trim lines like the Ranger. On a truck like this,
bright strips help to serve as a guide to demonstrate how straight
the body lines are. And there's plenty more seen here to grab
attention. The red paint is as bright as a fire engine. And
speaking of bright, the chrome front end has added shine with the
billet grille. Large dual exhaust tips and a lowered stance also
add to the truck's distinction. Despite all this hot rod
appearance, this Ford is still a pickup to its core. That's why the
rear chrome bumper still has its trailer hitch, and the bed has
been sprayed with tough black liner paint.
The attractive full red style continues inside. This Ranger has
some nice classic extras, like the sliding rear glass and wood-like
trim. Plus, there are also well-integrated upgrades like the
retro-style AM/FM stereo, auxiliary readouts under the dash, and a
movable cup holder center console done in a coordinating red. You
may want to reupholster the seat or restore the A/C function. But
those are just weekend kinds of additions. The heart of the appeal
here is a fun pickup that loves to hit the streets from day one.
And so they even made improvements under the hood.
Under the hood is a 351 cubic-inch V8. These motors have proven to
be the ideal mix of good displacement and hardy construction.
That's especially true for this one that was installed in this
truck within the last five years. The freshness is seen on the
clean blue block and the shine of the valve covers, air grabber,
pulleys, aluminum radiator, and more. Plus, you'll really
appreciate the power upgrades with the Holley four-barrel
carburetor, an aluminum intake, and Hooker headers feeding the dual
exhaust. It's a powerful package that's also an all-around driver.
That's why you have a three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, power brakes, front discs, and a 2.63 rear end for good
highway cruising.
This F-100 has all the candy apple and chrome that is beloved at
car shows, but it also can pull tough truck duty. Plus, it has a
great original personality that is true right down to the included
owner's manual. It's a great all-around vintage and distinctive
package. Call now!
