Owner History:
Karen Webb Garrett & Pat Garrett were long time residents of Midvale, Utah. Karen was a teacher & taught for the DOD then for Jordan School District, & Pat was a member of the US Airforce. They met on the US airbase in Tripoli, Libya. When they finished living & working abroad, they returned to Karen’s hometown of Midvale to set up home. They were avid collectors & part of that was a love of classic cars. They did not have a particular car or make that they collected, although Karen was partial to VWs. They just loved what they loved. They loved showing their cars at various car shows, driving them to & from work & driving them in local & regional Utah parades. This VW along with three other classic cars being offered at auction are part of their estate. Unless things were written down, much of what is known about the cars’ histories is either from hearsay, mechanics or is otherwise unknown.
1974 VW Karmann Ghia History & Condition:
Not much is known re: the Ghia’s history other than it was painted orange. There is a statement which accompanies the paperwork on the car from a Bob’s Used Cars in Murray, Utah that restoration work was done. Although the card is signed, there is no date. This car won the “Mayor’s Choice” Award at the Lion’s 2001 Spring City Pioneer Day Car Show.
Condition: The Engine, Transmission, Chassis, Suspension, & Electrical System are in very good condition. The Bodywork is in good condition with some minor damage specifically on the passenger’s side. There’s a recently acquired scratch along the bottom of the door & side. There’s also a small bubble in the paint on the fender directly behind the back wheel well. The Paintwork is in very good condition with the exception of the scratch, bubble & some other small chips. Brightwork is excellent including all original hubcaps
