Mechanical
Our Acura has a factory revised 3.2-liter SOHC 24-valve aluminum
V-6-engine that makes 270 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 238 pound-feet
of torque at 5000.
It is backed by a limited-slip differential, Brembo four-piston
front calipers, with all that power and torque getting channeled
through the front-drive allowing Zero to 60 mph in just 5.7
seconds, with the quarter-mile following 8.7 seconds later at 99
mph.
The 3.2 revs easily and willingly, emitting a mechanical soundtrack
that perfectly complements its 6800-rpm threshold and backed by the
5-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
Interior
Our TL comes Tan soft, perforated-leather seating, tasteful wood
trim, Panasonic's hot new DVD-audio system with surround sound,
developed with Elliot Scheiner, the Grammy Award-winning engineer
who's worked with the Eagles, Beck, Sting, and others, Bluetooth
wireless capability for cell phones, enabling hands-free operation
through the TL's voice-recognition and audio systems, and curtain
airbags.
It also has Bucket Front Seats and matching rear seats, power locks
and windows, power steering and brakes, Cruise Control, Front And
Rear Cupholders, Tilt And Telescopic Steering Wheel,
Electrochromatic Inside Rearview Mirror, Leather Steering Wheel,
Clock, Tachometer, and Trip Computer.
Exterior
Our white TL is a beautifully crafted and attractive sports sedan
with loads of smart features, and its front-drive layout does have
advantages, such as better traction on slippery and snow-covered
roads.
It is wrapped in sheetmetal that accentuates the short overhangs
and athletic stance and has an aggressive look that is pleasing to
the eye and refreshing in the class.
It rides on 5-spoke factory alloy wheels wearing black sidewall
radial tires and looks very sharp.
Conclusion
The 2004 Accura TL like we have here at Skyway Classics was an
all-new platform in 2004 and it was a terrific front-drive platform
with a V-6 upscale sports sedan and is fun and a great car to drive
on the highway or on city streets.
