Vehicle Description
1995 Ford F250 Pickup
The ninth generation of the F-Series would be the last time all
Ford truck models in the series were all part of the same lineup.
At the bottom was the F-150 (the lighter payload F-100 having left
after 1983) and at the top since 1987 was a 1 1/2 ton F-Super Duty
commercial chassis cab, but all of them wore the same sheet metal.
The Super Duty name goes even further back than that though, to the
mammoth V8 truck engine used by Ford from 1958 to 1981 (in 401ci,
477ci, and 534ci displacements), and the trucks they were installed
in. The 1996 model year heavier-payload models (F-250 and above)
offered the same gasoline engines as the F-150, including the
4.9-liter I6, 5.0 and 5.8-liter V8, plus the big 7.5-liter (460ci)
big block V8. The turbo diesel option available in 1996 was the
7.3-liter Powerstroke V8 from Navistar, introduced to the bigger
F-Series trucks in the second half of 1994.
For consignment, a 2 owner truck, always garage kept by our
consignor and only used to travel with. Its sleek looks, strong
drivetrain choice, and sheer ubiquity, it's easy to understand why
this ninth-generation Ford F-250 is well on its way to becoming a
modern classic. Increasingly, collectors are looking for old school
trucks they can actually enjoy from behind the wheel, and perhaps
even pitch in from time to time with hauling or towing duties. This
is the last generation to show up before the Big Rig era of uber
large pickup trucks which are more difficult to drive and more
importantly, park! The 1995 F-250 never looked so classic and
good.
Exterior
Utilizing the world's first wrap- around aero styled headlight on a
truck, this proved wildly popular and is now classic. Throw in the
rounded hood and bumper that wraps around the front fenders and we
are now in the old school, and this is the new cool. This truck is
bathed in a full coating of Oxford White. Badging is all correct
for this XL and the rear tailgate opens up into a rubber lined
steel bed showing some scratches but nothing out of what would be
considered normal use. A Leer fiberglass bed topper is now on and
it is also painted in body matching Oxford White. Chromed bumpers,
with the front showing some chrome peel off are in otherwise nice
shape and black plastic cased mirrors are looking just fab.
Multiple chorm tie downs are seen lining the bed to hold cargo
securely when the topper isn't installed. 15-inch wheels with saw
blade style wheel covers are wrapped in 265/75R16 blackwall
rubber.
Interior
Nice clean gray molded plastic and vinyl adorn the doors. There is
a bit of color rub off showing, particularly on the arm rest and
window cranks. The gray split bench seat is a mix of very clean
gray broadcloth and a darker gray tweed and provides room for 3. A
small fold down low back bench seat is in the rear and appears to
have hardly been used. A black and gray dash is nice and clean with
an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo, and a large cup holder sits atop
the hump. The floors are sans carpeting and show the factory
installed gray textured vinyl floor coverings complete with
aftermarket black rubber mats. A gray headliner is above, and we
note an added brake controller for trailer towing capabilities.
Drivetrain
Dust and patina finishes are all over this engine bay but within
the gaggle of hoses and wiring, resides a 7.5 liter, (460ci for
those in the know), V8 engine. It has EFI, and a Jasper 4-speed
automatic E4OD transmission with upgrades to fix some of the
nuances with the factory supplied unit. On the back is a 3.55
geared heavy duty rear axle. Note this is a 2-wheel drive
truck.
Undercarriage
Some surface rust is seen throughout, but it's contained mostly to
drivetrain and suspension parts. Floor pans and rockers underneath
are clean. Radius arm and coil spring suspension is in front, and
leaf springs for the back. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power
drums in the back along with a single piped stock style exhaust
system.
Drive-Ability
A solid runner, plenty of power from the 8 cylinders, good braking
and all was in working order. A great truck to drive or travel with
as our consignor did.
A classic old-style truck before the "Big Rig" truck design era
took over. Good enough to drive on a daily basis, but nice enough
to show and tow also. This generation F-series trucks are becoming
a hot commodity on the market, hurry down to visit our Hallowed
Halls before someone else hauls this rig out of here.
