Vehicle Description
Originality, premium, and true classic style all come together in
this 1973 Chevrolet Caprice Classic. It makes for an impressive
time capsule, right down to the numbers-matching V8. But here's
also room for a touch of custom fun in this large classic cruising
coupe.
The 1970s were all about earth-tones, so this light green paint is
a great way to represent the era. This factory-correct shade has
been treated to a respray, but it has the right amount of aging
that most people will just assume you have a clean and stock
survivor. Part of what also gives this such a time capsule style is
that we're told this was a long-term family-owned car, and that
extra care can really be seen in the quality of the body panels.
Plus, you have plenty of terrific vintage details like the factory
wheel covers, rear fender skirts, full-length trim, and distinct
Caprice Classic badging. And nothing says period-correct premium
like a well-fitting black vinyl roof. We even love the style of the
chrome bumpers, with the large pointed one putting a shining face
forward, and in the rear, the unique three tail light arrangement
is set within the bumper for an artful finishing touch to this
hardtop.
The black and green of the exterior are continued inside. The black
upholstery is a cool upgrade that gives you a mix of ostrich
pattern with perforated inserts for a cool cruising attitude.
There's also a newer black carpet to coordinate. And the rest of
the style looks quite stock and exceptionally preserved. This
includes the sea of green on the detailed door panels, nice
headliner, and smooth dash. There are the right easy cursing
features like an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo, the rarely seen
cruise control, and provisions for air conditioning (the compressor
is currently disabled, so it will need servicing before blowing
cold again.) Plus, we love the look of the sporty yet formal
roofline on the Caprice. And it's easy to show it off any time you
want to roll down all the windows on this pillarless hardtop.
We love to see the numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch motor still
under the hood. This optional V8 means this Caprice has an extra
helping of power and torque to move this luxury Chevy. You can see
newer investments in places like the alternator and radiator, and
there are good-looking fundamentals. So this level of maintenance
reinforces why the motor fires up eagerly and runs strong. It has
all the right cruiser features like power steering, power brakes,
front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission. And there's
even a newer dual exhaust to give this coupe a nice and dignified
V8 tone as you take it down the highway.
