Vehicle Description
The Fox Mustangs are more than 30 years old now. I'm going to let
that sink in while you look at how clean this 1993 Mustang LX 5.0
hatchback still looks. Vibrant White paint gives it a high-profile
and serious attitude, while a powerful 5.0 provides plenty of
old-school V8 motivation. Affordable fun, that has always been the
Mustang's mantra, and this very reasonably priced, low-mile,
5-speed manual hatchback definitely delivers.
The clean lines made the Foxbody hatchback incredibly popular in
the early '90s, and everyone knew to look for the 5.0 badges and
slick body lines on these beauties. Today these are still able to
turn heads and the clean, unmolested lines of this particular LX
look as good as ever. The Vibrant White paint job is all original,
showing remarkably little wear that is quite frankly not
commensurate with its age. Although, with only 51,764 actual miles
on the clock, a solid, very clean paint job like this might be
expected after all. This 'Stang has been babied and garage kept
since new, and the results speak for themselves. The doors close
easily and there is great panel alignment throughout, reinforcing
the idea that someone took great care of this car. Sure, it's no
longer perfect, and some imperfections can be seen upon closer
examination, but for a survivor they don't get much cleaner than
this. The infamous '5.0' badges remain in place on the front
fenders, so it's got the right look, and they kept the stock
bumpers and rear spoiler, suggesting that the guys who owned this
car understood restraint. If you're looking for a car to upgrade or
turn into something amazing, this is what you want to start with.
And even as it sits, it's probably more fun per dollar than
anything else we've got!
The black cloth and vinyl interior is in great shape, offering
stock bucket seats that provide plenty of bolster support for both
the driver and passenger. The door panels, center console, and the
rear seat are all quite nice, and even the headliner remains taut,
further showing off the limited wear accrued with only 51K miles on
the clock. Ford's fat steering wheel feels great in your hands,
with an airbag added just a couple years before, and the relatively
upright greenhouse makes the Mustang very user-friendly in traffic,
where it's the ultimate point-and-shoot machine. The original
gauges are all still in place, augmented by a trio of AutoMeter
auxiliary units in the center stack. Other options include A/C,
power windows and locks, cruise control, and an original AM/FM/CD
stereo, making this a fairly loaded GT that looks today like it did
in 1993. With rear seats that fold down, cargo capacity is
impressive and the trunk area shows only minor wear despite being
nearly 30 years old. Even the original cargo cover is still in
great shape!
The venerable 5.0-liter HO V8 under the hood was the go-to
powerplant in the 1990s and it remains fast and fun today. The hard
part is finding one that hasn't been modified, raced, and abused,
but this one appears to be almost entirely stock, save for a set of
block-hugging headers and an upgraded Flowmaster dual exhaust
system (with catalytic converters still in place) for some added
horsepower. Still wearing its original intake manifold, throttle
body, and even the stock valve covers, it's one of those untouched
cars that just seems to run and drive better than most. On paper,
225 horsepower and 300 pounds of torque don't sound amazing to us
today, but in reality, this is still a very fast car that has few
peers on the street. Thanks to the quick-shifting 5-speed manual
transmission, it snaps through traffic with real authority, and the
original 8.8-inch rear end has relatively tall gears inside so it's
awesome on the highway. 16-inch five-spoke wheels look great on the
Foxbody and carry staggered 225/55/16 front and 255/65/16 rear
BFGoodrich performance radials that give it the right Mustang
stance.
Documented with its original window sticker, owner's manuals, and
warranty card, this is the Foxbody to own if originality is your
cup of tea. Still fast and still fun after all these years, it's
the kind of 5.0 Mustang that turned us all into car guys. Call
