Stunning, Highly Original 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback
Returning to Specialty Sales Classics in our Fairfield showroom
after being in a private collection for 23 years is this gorgeous
1968 Shelby GT 500 2 Door Fastback with Highland Green exterior
paint and a black vinyl interior with correct Cobra badging. You'll
also find a factory correct 428 Cobra Jet V-8 engine under the hood
with 335 HP and 420 ft/lb. of torque, paired to a 3-speed automatic
transmission. This highly original classic has recently been
lovingly brought back to driving condition and it is one of the
nicer original examples we've ever come across. We said that in
1999 when we sold it to the current owner and we still feel that
way today.

The current owner of this 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback purchased it
from our Pleasanton showroom back in 1999 and drove it directly to
his home in Sacramento, California. It has remained garaged there
since that time and we received it back in late 2021 to prepare it
for a new home. Over the last several months, we've rebuilt the
transmission, replaced the braking system all the way around and
also added a new water pump, valve cover gaskets, alternator, and
power steering pump. The gas tank was also reconditioned and this
vehicle received new fluids and an extensive tune up (new spark
plugs, battery, tires, etc.) to ensure it's ready for the next
owner.
Additionally, this 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback is a great example
and only required refreshing since it had remained parked for 22+
years. We do not have a lot of history on this desirable classic
prior to receiving it in 1999, but it does have everything you'd
look for in an investment-grade classic. The exterior is in great
shape with gorgeous body lines, previously resprayed exterior paint
and exceptional trim all the way around. You'll also find a very
original, highly correct black Cobra interior with correct wood
grain paneling and badging throughout. We do have a professional
inspection report available.
On the open road, this 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback is an absolute
pleasure to drive, allowing you to experience the epitome of
Ford/Shelby Muscle from that era. Very few iconic classic muscle
cars live up to the hype like this particular example does, and it
is a vehicle that could be driven and enjoyed at local shows and
events. .

ultimate muscle car and it is likely priced conservatively for such
an original example. It needs next to nothing to be enjoyed right
