The 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 premiered with a new lighter aluminum 5.4 liter supercharged engine, at the Chicago auto show earlier that production year. This improvement vastly improved the handling nature of this iconic Mustang. The SVT Performance package is enhanced with Michelin rubber with P265/40 up front and P285/35 rear tires mounted on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged lightweight aluminum wheels. The rear differential is a 3.73:1 final-drive ratio and 2011 was the first year of the electric power steering. The combination of less weight, more power, better tires, and a revised suspension on the 2011 Shelby makes for a very desirable vehicle to own and drive. Motor Trend in 2011 recorded at the test track, 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, 0 to 100 in 9.1 seconds, and the standing quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 117 mph.
