For Sale: 1935 Ford Deluxe Coupe in Portland, Oregon

Vehicle Description

1935 Ford Deluxe 5-Window Coupe

Chassis# 182154923

Body# 770 14013

Mileage: 00268

History: Purchased in 2000 out of Battleground WA, originally an Idaho West Coast car. Subject to a complete body-off ground up restoration completed in 2013. Everything on this car has been restored (see detailed photos). Covering only 268 miles since restoration this car is a stunning show winner. Owned and restored by a Concours d’Elegance winning mechanic that went through the entire car. Meticulously maintained and stored in heated garage, comes with books and extensive records.

Engine & Transmission: Completely rebuilt 221 Cubic Inch 21-stud flathead V8 engine (see detailed photos). Original Six volt power. With a detailed eye to keeping the car stock, the owner preformed a few upgrades. An Oil-bath air cleaner was added to incorporate the technology advancement of the era and a fuel pump with fuel bowl to filter any undesirables from entering the carburetor. Cast iron heads were used in the engine rebuild (original car came with aluminum heads). Dual water pumps, rebuilt for higher flow capacity. Converted to hydraulic breaks. Came out of the factory with 4.11:1 ratio rear-end  and was converted to 3.78:1 ratio rear-end  to allow better highway cruising at lower RPMs. Everything else  rebuilt to stock. Three-Speed Manual Transmission drives strong and smooth. Very dry and clean underneath. Extensive maintenance records/history on the restoration comes with the sale. On examination it is obvious this restoration was a labor of love, very well sorted car.

Body: Bare metal respray in original Ford color scheme, Black with Ford Apple Green wheels and pinstripe. Front grille is triple chrome plated (exceptional) and is the center piece of this restoration, only deluxe models came with a chrome grill. I took extensive photos to show how beautiful this paint is (see detailed photos) it truly needs to be seen in person to appreciate it fully. Body panels are all straight, very nice gaps, exceptional rubber and chrome.  All glass is in great shape with one small scratch on the passenger window and a small paint blemish above driver door (see photo). The headlights have been upgraded to halogen. Lenses are great with license plate light, brake and tail lights all working as new. Full-size spare tire W/locking center and cover.  Ford locking gas cap. Dual tuned chrome horns. I have been to many car shows and frequent Pebble Beach car week and this paint I would grade as a 9.3 on a scale from 1-10. Stunning deep rich mirror finish.

Interior: Completely new taupe cloth pinstripe interior using a LeBaron Bonney top quality LeBaron upholstery kit. It is show quality and the detailed photos show how nice it is. Beautiful banjo steering wheel.  This Deluxe model comes with AM radio with the radio unit under steering column and the mono speaker overhead between the sun visors. Rear window shade (see video), rumble seat with vinyl seat covering, chrome windshield frame. Chrome waterfall dash around radio dial and windshield crank. There are two upgraded switches in glovebox (non-stock) the top switch delivers power to the radio to avoid leaving the radio on and draining the battery, the lower switch is power to the heater in the foot well. There is one small paint scratch on the bottom of the dash under the glovebox door (see photo). Dash instruments are in exquisite condition with Speedometer, temp gauge, gas gauge, volt meter and oil pressure all working as new. Vacuum windshield wiper controls under driver sun visor (see detailed photos). Headliner and package tray as new.  It’s as if you just rolled off the showroom floor.

Summary: This is a wonderful 1935 Ford Deluxe 5-Window Coupe that has been restored to a very high standard. The car can be taken to win car shows as well as cruised regularly. Clean Oregon title using the chassis number. The owner/restorer spent and enormous amount of energy and time to put this car in exceptional condition. When you’re around this car in person you can tell it’s a good one.
