This 1996 GMC C1500 Sierra is about being both comfortable and
cool. That means a cool custom paint theme, a loaded A/C interior,
an overdrive transmission, and a fresh 5.7-liter fuel-injected V8.
It all makes for a sharp-looking classic with modern appeal.
This truck was upgraded to a champagne gold later in life. It makes
for the kind of color that fits well with a 1990s machine, but with
a brighter finish that gives this one a feeling of quality. And
this feeling of the right upgraded touches is seen throughout this
pickup. The crystal clear front lights, color-matched side mirrors,
and color-matched liner paint on the bed floor add a bit more
distinction. There's also the right upgrade of sporty style with
the distinct orange and silver pinstripes. Plus, those 20-inch
Ridler salt flat style alloys help give this the stance to earn the
SS 350 badging added to the side trim.
The interior is built for long-haul comfort, but it doesn't look
like it has spent too much time on the road. For example, those
dual bucket seats look quite fresh. They are done with a comfy
velour, fold-down armrests, and yours even power adjusts to the
ideal position. This has terrific features, like a center console,
the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, and cold-blowing air
conditioning. It's easy to get comfortable in the driver's seat
with a grippy airbag steering wheel on a tilt column, power
steering, and a full set of readouts, including the handy tach.
Under the hood is the hardy fuel-injected small block V8. This
5.7-liter unit has an exceptionally fresh look on the block, and
that's for a very good reason. This is a fresh motor installed in
April 2022, and we have the $5,500 receipt documenting the
professional installation. So while it's unknown if the odometer
reflects the actual mileage, that's a bit moot considering there's
only about 200 miles on the motor! So this pickup really knows how
to fire up eagerly and hit the road with confidence. The four-speed
transmission is the ideal pairing because it's stout enough to pull
real truck duty, and it's also smooth enough to enjoy overdrive
highway cruising. We even have a receipt documenting a major brake
service within the last year so that this one also stops with
assuredness.
The single cab, short bed pickups always have a sporty look that
never goes out of style. So when a truck is given the right
investments, it's easy to fall in love... especially at this price.
